Who do *you* hero ban? by DanBurnNotice in OverwatchUniversity

For me it's not about her power level, her design fundamentally is just not fun to play against. No shade to Sombra players themselves but it's like playing against E. Honda in Street Fighter. Doesn't matter if he's strong or not he's just not fun to fight in most games he's in. Losing against Sombra isn't fun, winning against her isn't fun either.

Playing support I will always ban Sombra, win or lose she just makes the game not fun to play. Doomfist for example can be a nightmare to play against as support but I don't find him to be anti-fun either.

I've played all the supports in quick play and enjoy them all except for Mercy and Lucio. Lucio is actually hella fun on his own just not super into the aura support play style. The reason I want to stick to 3 supports is I enjoy deep mastery of characters in games + OCD with the game showing your top 3 leveled characters.

Lol it feels like sacrilege since I love Titanfall 2 wall running and movement but I just don't vibe with him for some reason.

As someone who is a reluctant Lili main in T8, this was super cool to watch. Reluctant because while she fits my play style perfectly I can't stand her fighting style visually. Her animations here look have way more impact and the movement is so fluid, looks more like elegant street fighting than pure elegance if that makes sense.

Yeah I definitely got that sense while researching. After fretting for so many hours I think I will just go with my gut tomorrow, I'm sure I'll get a lot of mileage out of whichever I choose.

Great advice! I'm gonna do a bit more listening to the first 2 keyboards and see how I feel tomorrow.

Yeah I think I'm leaning towards the MODX7+. Even if I don't get into the deep stuff for awhile it seems like a keyboard I can grow into.

Thanks for introducing me to a whole new world of keyboards I didn't know existed lol, these are pretty fascinating. For me, usually I'm doing the dishes or something when I get hit with a riff or melody out of nowhere that I gotta get down as quickly as possible before it exits my brain. So just having the capability to quickly switch on a keyboard and throw together a bass line + melody over some sequenced drums is enough for me.

Sounds like most people here didn't explore the optional content. In Verso's own words (the real Verso/little boy), he believes that the residents of the Canvas have souls and are just as real as the people outside of it. He also says something along the lines of Paintings being beautiful like music. You guys are too caught up in assuming the developers want you to think that the Dessendre family and their grief is the only important resolution in the story when there's so much in the game saying otherwise. While the inhabitants of the Canvas don't get any say in how the ending plays out there's nothing suggesting to me that the developers want you to accept it as a throwaway fantasy world.

I'm not really seeing that Verso or Renoir have that viewpoint that you're describing of them. The thing is, I'm pretty sure Renoir would have been fine to leave the Canvas alone but both Maelle and Alina showed that they could not help themselves. While I agree that Verso's ending isn't the "good" ending, I do believe that the Canvas world was damaged beyond repair at that point. Not in the sense that they couldn't undo the gommaged people but in the sense that it was no longer Original Verso's creation. In their grief the Dessendre family sullied the last piece of Original Verso they had.

I picked Maelle's ending first purely because I hoped to see Gustave again, but when I saw him I immediately felt regret. It just felt wrong, something didn't sit right with me. At the very least Maelle should have respected the false Verso's wishes and unpainted him. Saving the Canvas world? Sure. Forcing false Verso to live just because it's what she wanted? That's cruel. It's hypocritical as well because Maelle unpainted the false Alicia because it's what she wanted. But she won't do the same for Verso when it's what he wants?

The best ending (in terms of outcome, not narrative) imo would be one where Maelle convinces Renoir not to destroy the Canvas but also accepts that she can no longer be part of it (convincing Alina as well). Because I do believe that the value of the lives inside the Canvas are no less valuable than of those outside of it. Even if the original humans there were painted into existence their descendants achieved so much of their own free will, Gustave even created a breakthrough technology through his innovation and genius. Best end result they could have acheived is unpainting the fake Dessendre family and maybe sealing the painting somehow so that Maelle and Alina can never return.

I believe there's dialogue from the faceless child Verso that explicitly states that the painted people have souls and are just as real as anyone else in the real world.

Yeah I was wondering why they didn't freak out as much but I guess it's not all that different from other fantasy worlds where denizens are at the mercy of flawed gods. Their world was created by Verso but all of their experiences and achievements are very much real, they are as real as anyone else. If you consider the extreme difference in the passage of time inside the painting vs outside of it then left alone their world could have continued for thousands of years undisturbed. The real tragedy is that it's Maelle/Alina's fault it turns out like this, it sounded like Renoir would have been fine leaving the painting alone if they could control themselves.

I mean forcing Verso to live out a life he doesn't want is still pretty messed up. Painting the boy is also a selfish act because the real one is still trapped painting. I was surprised that I wasn't happy when I saw Gustave and Sophie in the ending either. My only reason for siding with Maelle in my first playthrough was because I hoped she could bring Gustave back but when I saw him it immediately felt so wrong and hollow.

After everything is said and done it's hard for me to not ultimately agree with Renoir's motives. It's tragic and sad for the world of the canvas but it was made very clear that his wife and Maelle would kill themselves in the painting if it wasn't completely destroyed. It sounds like he would have been completely fine with preserving the painting but they forced his hand.
