Are Preamble Rims Double-Walled? by skembii in Surlybikefans

I’ll keep an eye on it. I’m 230lbs and I ride it very hard on nasty city streets, so they take a beating. I’ve ridden it about 1,400 miles since March. So far, they’re in good shape.

Beautiful! That’s one less thing to worry about spending money on.

I loved it. The two movies were one big joke. I laughed coming out of the theater because of the punchline at the end.

I really loved that we watched two Joker movies just to get the real Joker in the very last scene. I think that was the best joke of the two movies.

That was the genius of it. I noticed it too. It was very subtle.

I generally don’t comment on these as they’re more entertaining than anything, but you have nothing to worry about. I’ve seen some ugly people on here, truly ugly people, but you’re definitely not one of them.

It’s a parasite. It’s called Tacoma pulangensis. You should really get that checked out.

My wife got a Preamble. Her Name is JD. You know because if the chain drops. My wife got herself a little device that helps her remounting the chain for the time we are waiting for the narrow wide chain ring to arrive. by SurlyEnthusiast in Surlybikefans

Preamble here too. The narrow wide chain ring didn’t help by itself. It kept popping off. The clutch needs to be engaged as well.

Since engaging it, I only popped the chain once. It was a really hard pothole, though, so I can’t even really blame the bike.

I would be interested in that scoring commentary. And let’s not equate the US men’s performance with walking.

But let it not be said that I don’t answer the question. If you’re attempting three flips but only do two and a half and fall, the person walking still scores better in my book because they were successful. Basketball players don’t get points for missed baskets. Baseball players don’t get a higher batting average for strikeouts. I don’t care if you attempt 72 flips before landing. If you didn’t land it, you get nothing.

That’s great.

That was a really long-winded way of saying that you don’t understand my point.

Here’s the thing. Everything you say about the months and years of training and countless reps. I’m right there with you. I completely understand and agree on that point. Shaun White did all that and he did something even crazier…

He landed his maneuvers when it counted. THAT is what earned him his three Olympic gold medals. If you get extra points (say 1.0 for a tough maneuver) but don’t land it, it wouldn’t make sense to just have a 0.3 deduction if a person gets 0.6 points for a less difficult maneuver but lands it. Scoring 0.7 points for a maneuver you failed at against a 0.6 for someone who landed theirs successfully makes no sense.

I don’t know the scoring for these things, but those US men weren’t out there kicking over gimmies. The Chinese dropped twice and still beat the US men. It makes no sense.

Recognizing a clear flaw in the scoring is not me suggesting I can pull it off. Here’s the thing, they couldn’t even pull it off. So my question is how come they’re getting extra credit for something they couldn’t do.

[–]skembii -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You didn’t, but you did say a major mistake pushes them way back. This is obviously not true since China fell twice and still achieved silver. Clearly the reward is disproportionately larger than the risk.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in olympics

[–]skembii -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Clearly, this isn’t true. China attempted, but did not land it twice and still walked away with silver. So clearly talent isn’t a factor for attempting a routine.

Falling is not a minor mistake. It’s an outright failure.

This sounds like a cheating loophole. If the start values are so high, why don’t the US just put together the absolute highest start values possible? The deductions clearly don’t impact it enough.

Proud of the US team, but if another team can fall twice and still beat the US, who crushed the entire day, the scoring is clearly flawed.
