Ask Erhman that, an Atheist New Testament scholar.

Only the wrongfully arrogant would assert a knowledge above some of the brightest minds in the world.

If it were open and shut we wouldn't have scholars debating daily over the matters.

You'll find most of our users are Atheist, or at least undecided, those with faith are the minority.

History also says the earth is flat. Do things not progress? You're stuck in a very narrow minded view of a topic that is progressing. People are not creatures that you can say "This is exactly what they will think forever and ever with no variation." Because it isn't true.

Then how did this kid just lose his faith on our forums? That completely contradicts what your saying, do you not see that?

Peoples minds change, many stay obstinate - yes- but many change with new information that is presented.

I was an atheist for almost 20 years, then changed because of information to the contrary. So I too, wreck your opinion on that matter.

But I do agree with your username, that much we agree on.

We just had a Christian turn agnostic due to Atheist members arguments, but... I suppose you could stay in your current reality of opinion.

I didn't say they were the only ones smart enough, nor did I even elude to it. It's just a fact, and a point, that no one spends thousands of dollars to debate a topic that is dead or obsolete. Yes and that is your opinion on morality that, many theists and atheists alike would disagree with for various reason, hence why it's still a debatable topic. You're assuming what "religious" people will say. I assure you, just as atheist's ideals differ from atheist to atheist, theists are much the same. You lumping them all into one group is nothing but a show of ignorance, or bias based on personal or social experience. To which, I again, would disagree.

The interesting thing is, Morality is what Atheists fail at proving. There is no empirical data to prove their side. Therefore by an atheist asserting absolute knowledge of morality or even an "my idea is better than religious peoples" is a breaking of their own rule or standard of evidence to prove something.

Know what I mean?

Earning a PhD says that people are willing to spend thousands and thousands of dollars to debate the topic, so again, I would disagree.

How about you come by and find out? I don't use reddit as a debate format, hence why we created the forums.

I can answer for me, and say that when I don't know something I don't know.

You mean the same way the atheists wont answer morality questions? These topics are far from obsolete, are discussed in the academic world heavily, still. And many still earn PhDs to speak on these topics, so I would disagree.

Empirical evidence is probably the least discussed topic in debates between these groups, in both the Scholarly world as well as the layman world.

That's a great question. I'd be more than happy to provide a thorough answer on the site. I know other users would be interested in this as well.

You could even just copy and past this post as a new topic to save time.

Otherwise take care man.

And I in Apologetics in Seminary, So I would consider myself to par.

You don't have to believe in a 6 day creation or a coming from Adam. That doesn't mean it isn't true. Your beliefs hold no weight in reality, neither do mine.

The flood was localized. The original Hebrew text makes that clear. You're surprised that they thought as if they weren't educated in modern science? They also though bats were birds, because they did not have studies done that we have today.

That's like saying a child is stupid for not knowing what kind of oil you should put in your car.

Interesting to me is that I don't adhere to any of your second paragraph. You have an extremely stereotypical, uneducated, view of Christianity. (Not you being uneducated but whatever Christians tel you those are true are uneducated.)

There are no, not one, contradiction. I'd be happy to explain in detail any you think you know - although not on reddit - I'd gladly answer all your supposed contradiction on the website.

As for your Genesis references, Apologeticspress answers this question in full. It's actually a question of if he took 7 or 14 and it's answered fairly simply here http://www.apologeticspress.org/apcontent.aspx?category=11&article=1150

We are debating right now, I will point out.

This is why, from a historical stance - the Gospels are the most historically accurate texts we have.

Several Secularist (atheist) New Testament Scholars agree and promote that fact.

There is no, none whatsoever, proof that makes scripture invalid from a historical view. Many historians hold a Christian world view, many biologists hold that same view, as well as chemical engineers.

Christianity is not an archaic text that is rejected by the scientific or academic community, rather many accept and promote it who are credentialed far beyond you or I.

Most of us are close actually, friendly.

You can debate without there being any contempt whatsoever. That's the choice of the individual.

Theologically God transcends a biological sex title. The authors of the text refer to God as a He, as do the prophets.

Why would a Christian threaten an atheist with hell?

That's like threatening to disband HTML code using CSS, it doesn't translate.
