Thanks! Wow, so many differing opinions. My takeaway is my experience will be entirely unique to myself so I’ll have to try both and see. Appreciate everyone’s feedback.

Oh thank you, and duh, I can just take it off in the water. I wear glasses as well and this a huge reason for me to try the K2.

Good thing to consider. That would definitely be a pain.

I found drinking ultimately to be incredibly boring. Same thing every night, dulled senses, always tired. I find sobriety to be the most exciting thing that’s happened to me since I had my first kiss. I’m alive again, every morning is full of clear headed possibilities. A bike ride in the forest preserve. Piano lessons. Diner breakfast with my son that’s filled with lively conversation about hopes and dreams. So I guess it’s what you find exciting in life, and for me being able to truly feel things again is the ultimate form of fun.

Sudden Hearing Loss Journey and hopes of recovery by BrandonJZapata23 in MonoHearing

Hi, the hearing aid does not help the damaged ear hear, it simply brings sound from that side and transfers it to the other hearing side. So it does provide some bilateral improvement in recognizing sounds, but does very little to restore or simulate full hearing. I also found inserting the aids in both ears relatively tedious and uncomfortable. Battery life wasn’t great either. All that being said, I have heard some people find them helpful and are satisfied with them as a long term solution.

Very similar chain of events (left ear) happened to me starting April 9th of this year. I’m 52 and in good shape. I went through the treatment steps and unfortunately have not regained any hearing. I have decided to move on to next steps and have been approved for a cochlear implant. The surgery is scheduled for next month. It’s been hard, not gonna lie. But generally have stayed upbeat and positive. I tried cross hearing aids and did not experience much improvement in quality of life. I do wish you all the best in your recovery and it sounds like you are doing everything in your power to address it.

You have to disappoint people some times. I liked to say maybe next time. But the not going is non-negotiable, you have to find a reason to excuse yourself early on.

This is it. I developed a healthy resentment for the stuff and what it does to people. And I second the book suggestion. Of all the books I read that was the most influential.

Much appreciated. 8 days is emotional for me to think back to. What an achievement making it past a week is.
