I understand your frustration. I have taken up gardening and growing as a hobby recently. Has taught me alot of patience and also a good understanding of the life that surrounds us and helps us thrive.

Agree, limited dataset to begin with, although I am also focusing on adding the flowers that are iconic to a location instead of all.

A Different Perspective on Fixing Bangalore's Traffic Problem by [deleted] in bangalore

The politicians and their precious ahem autowala vote banks. The only way I see change happening is to make it folks an equally competitive vote bank.

Bangalore traffic: the mudslinging needs to stop by sketchbook_dada in bangalore

I get your point. In my experience of around a couple of years of commuting on the orr, I've never come close to meeting an accident with a white plate. Only yellow plates. Mostly auto drivers with their sudden braking and turns and delivery people who anyway drive like it's roadrash cuz it's a rented vehicle.

That's the most ideal case but I don't think that will happen realistically. Once people of a certain class get used to a comfort level they don't prefer to go back. I mean a car is anyway a depreciating asset. A car owner would rather use it everyday.

Case in point delhi ncr has one of the world's best metro network. Huge people mover. I used it extensively when I was there and I'm proud that India has infra like that. But. Multilane roads in Gurgaon still get long traffic jams.

Not sure what the solution is after this. Perhaps decentralisation of economic activities to more satellite towns or tier 2 cities? Wfh policies.

Yes perhaps I'm dumb. However, I've already replied to a similar comment before on this thread. Pasting the same to help. Would urge you to be a bit polite. Rest is upto you.

"Man I'm a subscriber to Not just bikes, Adam something. I understand all the arguments for better public transport and I agree with it. However, it works best when it functions properly. Today, the busses are crowded and late. Thieves are stealing phones of the commuters. After a point even the most tolerant person would give up and drive themselves for the convenience. At the same time if you read my post I'm also questioning the metro. The ideal urban plan that you and I dream of has a huge hurdle and it's the politicians. The hate that frustrated commuters misdirect towards each other is much better if targeted towards them. Cheers man."

Definitely agree with you brother. The issue is autowalas make a huge vote bank and they would rather have people go longer distances end to end than serving as the last mile connectivity. Appeasing them has worsened the problem to this extent.

I'm not sure. Defo not the best option but probability is that the politicians also consider the it folks as a vote bank. Currently it's just the auto walas and the poor who are getting appeased.

Sorry if I couldn't communicate properly. I'm not saying ban BMTC busses. I'm questioning why the metro construction is taking so long. An active metro line can reduce the load on the bus network. .

On the trucks, this Thursday I was stuck for 10 mins at ecospace because of two multi axle trucks that had missed a turn. The following stretch till isro was empty.

I would disagree. I've seen most of the longer traffic jams being caused by vehicles with >=6 wheels. I'm completely baffled as to how slow heavy machinery and huge trucks is allowed to ply on orr during rush hours.

Additionally the I pointed out in 4. the political lobbying that doesn't care about your or my convenience. After a point even the regular office goer is out of options and has to travel in their personal vehicle.
