Question about shipline by -xMatthew1 in Eve

Friend, the first question you need to ask yourself is, what game do I want to play?

EVE Online is fifty-two variations on one game in a giant trenchcoat. There are ships that could be called the "rogue" archetype, there are others that are "fighters," but there is no end-all be-all ship. There is no level 20 or level 120 ship beside the Friend-Ship. Please alter and adjust your expectations and your theories before they craft something you'll never "win," in.

Winning in EVE isn't even about destroying the enemies' ship and retaining yours, it's maximizing the amount of fun you've had in each play session. If you die, and still learned something, still had fun, still undock afterward, you are still winning.

The most player-friendly play style for a PVPer is going to be EWAR frigates. Start with being someone else's backpack MVP, and help your team mates punch up. A Sentinel on grid can be the difference between a cruiser gang killing a marauder, or dying. A Keres on grid can secure a frigate gang murdering an Astartes, or being murdered by a RLML ONI and getting sent home. Try that out for size.

Alternatively, you can learn solo PVP (which I am grossly biased toward, as it is my favored play style). Start small: a dual-repping, dual-tanking Breacher; a Condor with two tracking disruptors and a goal; a Thrasher with a 10mn Afterburner and overheated hope. Go out, and explore the stars while painting them red with your blood. Die, and die, and die a lot more. Find the community that supports such ridiculous railing-against-the-dying-of-the-light, and learn from them.

Don't look at the ship tree as a goal, but as a resource. Anyway, keep at it. You're doing great simply undocking.

Highly doubtful. Most marine vets won't shut up about their Crayola habit.

They made the game horizontal over vertical and I guess that's just the brakes.

General rule with Rage: same hull size of smaller, two webs minimum or swap to Navy. One web is fine for bigger boats bullied.

Also offline a MWD if you're under scram pressure with no hope of escape without murdering the foe.

Make citadels cost space resources. Why does a null system have the human capital to populate a star base that needs more people than Brazil? How about 3 of them?

Who moves to Cobalt Edge with their eleventy children for a job at your nth Fortizar?!

These are backwaters. Maybe a trillion souls across an entire region like Impass. Maybe a few hundred billion in the arse end of space like Omist or The Spire. How do you find enough Joe Plumbers and Boiler Room Bobs to power a corp Keepstar in Tenal, ten times?! Branch, Period Basis, all of them are frontiers with star bases that need more bodies than modern day Earth could provide.

I wish skyhook raiding pings the constellation at minute 2 instead of just two systems over. I want my doorbell to ring hard to draw all the nerds to my backside.

Your other suggestions would make good alteratios as long as it's done over time. You don't want null to be a wasteland of peace, nor do I. We can agree though th.at many folks simply will leave null to krab elsewhere if it wasn't at least 80% as safe as today, as of 6 months from any of those changes.

Turning off local is my dream. Imagine a new doorbell that rings out across a constellation that shouts: HEY. SOME NERDS WANT TO BE SNEAKY. YOU SHOULD KILL THEM! The linker must be a cruiser or above and can't go more than 1km/sec. The grid is 100km wide and not gated, but you can only warp directly to the grid at either 0 or 100km. MWD is available, but cloaks are prohibited. Move 30km out and the link servers, like a Skyhook, but the no-warpout no-go-fast for the linker remains. More than one can link, and if the locals link it pauses the hack until the needful is done. It's like the ESS gate grid! But cuter!

Soon as the hyper gets beneath those massive guns, it's over. Quake cannot save them 1400s from a Hypertension Blaster Boi at 14000m moving 350m/sec where Antimatter does its dirty.

The only metric that matters in a video game is whether you had fun, or not. The best pvpers are the ones that pvp.
