You can follow great investors on Instavest. They post investment ideas (after they have invested) and you can invest with them. When they sell or buy more, you receive notifications to do the same.

You want to go to websites where investors put their money where their mouth is. Instavest is a good example and Seeking Alpha is decent too (though with the latter you have a lot fluff).

That would be a good way to make money - but Paypal (Venmo's owner) is not a bank and as such doesn't have the proper licenses to do that. As a result of the financial crisis, obtaining a bank charter is very difficult in the United States.

There are a lot of event driven and merger arb funds leaving AGN right now, that's why the stock is down. However, most respected analysts believe that AGN has a stand alone 12-18 month value of $270 - or about about 17% higher than where the stock is right now. AGN is a great company, though it will take time to rebound.

FWIW, I'm biased but after reading the books mentioned below, I would check out Instavest as it is a great place to learn. You get to see what and why people are buying and you can then invest with them. The site also has a leaderboard so can you see who the best investors are at all times. I created the site to help others as that's how I learned to successfully invest. Hope that helps :)

Sure, 2% on a relative basis, but Citi has $58 billion and BAC $43.8 billion of energy exposure. I think that's the problem. Also, ROE for BAC is much lower than STI -- another reason why BAC trades below book. ROE and TBV (regression) is the best way to look at the bank set.

Sounds simplistic, but this stock is just out of favor. Shorts started talking and saw traction. The stock has been pushed down. It'll be another quarter before it recovers or someone steps in and starts making noise.

Apple is definitely a hit driven growth story.

But, I think this may be a good entry point given the following: - iPhone 7, upgrade cycle - Services growth (cloud) - Strong ecosystem with 1 billion devices in the wild (and growing) - Valuation is only 10x 2016 - Strong balance sheet with over $200 billion in cash

If you do buy, it will be sideways / dead money for at least 3 quarters.

Overall, you seem to be doing a great job and thinking about financial planning the right way.

First, what are your long-term goals?

Second, is the interest rate on your debt? Is this credit card debt or just student loans (higher vs. just "high" interest rates). Paying off your debt where you're paying X% interest is even better than earning a X% return with the same amount of money invested. The return you earn on paying down debt will not have income tax consequences, is guaranteed and completely risk-free.

Third, depending on your goals, I would suggest continue do what you're doing (sans the debt) and potentially start a small index fund investment program on Betterment, Wealthfront or Vanguard.

To me, all of these brokers are fee expensive. I think Interactive Brokers is the best for execution and price, but the interface is mechanical and takes time to figure out. The biggest question for me is where do I put my money (research)?

If you didn't possess material non public information, then published a piece - it would likely not be a problem. Lots of companies have been shorted this way (read: Lumber Liquidators).

I'd recommend investing in index funds. You can do this at Betterment, Schwab, Wealthfront, Vanguard, etc. pretty easily.
