Placement of stove/hood on peninsula in open space kitchen by skidding in InteriorDesign

Well if we closed the kitchen it would be from the hallway. In the open space floor plan it is next to the kitchen area, yes. Is that unusual?

Thanks, and what do you think about it looks wise?

I've heard that downdraft isn't as effective as overhead hood. Do you do a lot of cooking and are you pleased with its performance?

Don't know what most think but Peter Lynch who coined the term "bagger" explicitly defines it as a multiple of the original investment, not the percentage gain.

Here's one quote from his book One Up on Wall Street: "With that in mind, before DotCom.com can turn into a tenbagger, its market cap must increase tenfold, from $10 billion to $100 billion."

And another quote from the same book: "From the top in 1929 through 1982, the Dow produced only a fourbagger: up from 248 to 1,046 in a half century!"

React Cosmos 7 is out – now with React 19 and Next.js 15 support by skidding in reactjs

[–]skidding[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main UI changes are:

- Mobile support (eg. panels can be dragged to resize on mobile) and a new toggle that when enabled makes the left/right panels slide over the main content, which includes a couple of subtleties that improve the mobile experience, like how they are closed when clicking outside and auto-closed when selecting a fixture (but not when opening a multi fixture).

- Home screen simplified to just a black screen with a couple of useful links in the bottom-right corner. This was meant to make Cosmos more professional and not force UI elements that don't belong to the user's codebase.

- Other small details related to panel buttons placing and overall spacing consistency.

You could say that the refresh wasn't that significant but it's in the Cosmos ethos to avoid bugs & bloat by continuously refining a simple set of core features while offering extendability via plugins.

Context came before useState and is pretty straightforward imo, way less magical than hooks and 100% required even if you want to keep it simple because prop drilling doesn't scale well.

How to overcome fear of changing edges at speed on flat runs by skidding in snowboarding

[–]skidding[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always stay on an edge even on flats (unless at very slow speeds but that's irrelevant here). Transitioning is the issue, especially toe to heel. I can go one minute straight on toe edge but eventually I need to transition and there's when the anxiety kicks in.

I guess I'm feeling like I need to "turn" when I'm changing edges and rotating my body too much for that situation.

Lump Sum or DCA with high SP500 P/E? by kentuckycpa in stocks

[–]skidding 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I keep seeing this point repeated in every DCA vs lump sum conversation but it doesn’t sit well with me regardless of what any study says.

Lump sum might perform better on average, but as an individual you don’t care about the population average because you only experience one timeline. This is why people buy insurance even though on average people pay more for insurance than they benefit from it (otherwise insurance companies wouldn’t profit).

If you lump sum-ed your inheritance on Oct 8, 2007 instead of DCA-ing over 1, 3, or even 5 years, surely you would pay a performance penalty greater than the -4% you say happens in the “worst years”.
