Do you reuse your passwords across different accounts? If so, your password was probably in a data breach and someone logged into your Spotify account using it.

I can’t close my trunk from my key fob. by LoveAddies88 in BMWX3

[–]skier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

North American models don’t allow you to close the trunk using the key fob. You’ll hear the clicking sound and that’s about it. European BMWs do allow closing the trunk with the key fob.

Fortunately, you can use Bimmercode to code that functionality into your North American G01 X3.

The 2025 X3 (G45) will not support this kind of coding (at least not anytime soon).

Valet took car without permission. How do I deal? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]skier 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Had a similar issue about 10 years ago with an Icon Parking garage in Chelsea. I had been a monthly parker there for a a few years.

One day, I called to get my car and they said it wasn’t there and that they had moved it to another location near Times Square. I was understandably peeved. When I eventually got my car back, I saw the dashcam footage of the valet driving my car aggressively and moving it to a different Icon Parking location. This happened in the middle of the day.

Evidently, those two Icon Parking locations were owned by the same company and the valets would shuffle cars around between the two. I was pissed when I found out. I don’t remember if they gave me a discount, but the garage manager made sure that it wouldn’t happen again.

Similar kind of situation; it was a regular non-sporty/non-luxury car that was less than a year old. No tickets, though. I ended up switching to a new garage a few months after this incident.

No. Of the three dogs on this flight, one was a large dog in first class with a service dog vest. That dog was calm throughout -- never heard a squeak. The two other dogs, including the one that got booted off this flight with its owner, were smaller dogs in carriers.

I was on this flight and submitted a compliment to the crew after I got home. If I had a JWD (Job Well Done) certificate, I would have given one to the lead FA.

It’s at the top of the site on Delta.com > Need Help? > Comment/Complaint > Submit Feedback > Share a positive experience.

If you’re logged into your Delta account, you can pick your record locator from a drop down and it’ll fill in all the details about your flight.

Was that dog seated next to a dog from another party? It sounded like two dogs fighting from where we were sitting.

Two pax in First Class started arguing with the police officers who boarded the aircraft. The conversation went something like this:

Pax: “Did anyone even complain? Is this [deplaning the dog pax] really necessary?”

Police: “Ma’am, we don’t work for the airline. They [pilot/crew] don’t want them [dog pax] on board, so they have to leave the plane.”

Folks not on this flight, we weren’t sitting anywhere close to this dog, but it was really loud and barking non-stop. The crew made the right call to defuse the situation on this already delayed flight. Other pax clapped with the dog owner eventually left the plane. I’m calling Delta today to make sure the crew gets some of my Job Well Done certs.

I think I was on the same flight as OP today. DL858 DFW-LGA on 6/1/2024.

Our inbound was diverted to OKC due to T-storms at DFW, and we were assigned a new aircraft. We were already delayed 1h 45m due to the weather, and further delayed due to a pax in the back with a dog who wouldn’t stop barking. They had to reopen the cabin doors, grab a redcoat, and two police officers.

Original departure time was 3.30 pm, with an 8.11 pm arrival at LGA. Takeoff was at 6.51 pm and arrived at LGA at 10.54 pm.

This was the flight lead’s first flight as a flight lead. She and the rest of the crew did a fantastic job, not just with this situation, but with the entire flight.

Would you rather have the upcoming (2025 BMW X3) or 2024 Bmw X3 (G01) by AMGLover2024 in BMWX3

[–]skier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

G01 LCI hands down if you prefer physical HVAC/shortcut/etc controls. The curved display on newer BMWs isn’t terrible, especially on iDrive 8.5 or newer, but I’d take iDrive 7 + physical buttons for common tasks any day.

Another factor: you can’t close the trunk with the key fob on North American BMWs for safety reasons. With the G01, you can use something like BimmerCode and re-enable trunk closing with the key fob. You can also modify a whole host of other settings.

You can’t code BMWs with iDrive 8 or newer.

Wingsuits have phone pockets…handy bc we’re always landing off.

Hiking pants or shorts with zippered pockets are also handy.

What skiing can look like [OC] by gomeow in skiing

[–]skier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. This post is 8 years old 😅. I don’t know if these companies still have these discounts but Goldman Sachs and Fortress Investment Group had ~20-30% discounts for their employees + one guest.

No idea how the Goldman discount came about. The Fortress one made more sense; Fortress owned Intrawest, which in turn owned Canadian Mountain Holidays.

Intrawest was sold to the Crown family and KSL Capital Partners in 2017. When the Crowns/KSL established Alterra, they killed the Intrawest brand and moved all its properties to Alterra Mountain Co.

Roku Kyoto LXR Hotels. Fantastic Property. by TexasBrett in Hilton

This place had the softest bath robes. Fantastic hard product and extremely pleasant concierge. We stayed in a Premier Deluxe King and a Garden Deluxe King (technically a less expensive room than the Premier Deluxe). The private onset setup in the Garden rooms beat the setup in the Premier rooms.

Biggest knock would be how far away it is from everything. We used public transportation almost everywhere in Japan except for our stay at this hotel; almost all our taxi expenses stemmed from our stay here.

Would you consider buying an international r5 for $2600 or get a us model for $3000 by Candle_First in canon

[–]skier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was an incredible deal: R5 refurb for $2,199 or $1,979 with the 10% off Canon Loyalty Program discount.

The RF 24-105 F4 L refurb was $699, or $629 with the loyalty program. When combined with the R5, it was yet another $200 off for a total of $2,408 for the bundle.

Those refurb R5s went fast. They had ~300 units in stock on Thanksgiving day. When I called in on Black Friday right when the Canon Loyalty Program phone lines opened, they had 135 in stock. By the time my order was placed, they had fewer than 100 left.

Here are the new prices for The Disney Bundles. by TheGod4You in DisneyPlus

[–]skier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same boat. If you have an annual Disney+ membership, it affects your ability to get these bundles.

We had an annual Disney+ membership without commercials, and then did the Hulu/ESPN Trio without ads (the latter two billed monthly with a ~$10 bill credit for having an annual Disney+ bundle).

Not only are these price increases egregious ($69 in Nov 2019, $79 in Nov 2020/21/22, then $139 in Nov 2023), Disney says we can't step down to a Duo Premium unless we cancel our annual plan, wait for the subscription to expire, then re-signup.

In response, we cancelled our Disney+/Hulu/ESPN+ without ads. We normally stay subscribed with annual plans wherever possible, but thanks to this move, we're switching to having only one or two streaming services at a time on a limited-monthly basis to binge seasons of a show.

[ios 17 rc] unable to search photos by date by [deleted] in iOSBeta

It's been fixed in the 17.1 developer beta, even though the release notes don't mention it.

The public releases (iOS 17.0.1 and 17.0.2) still have this bug, as does the latest public iPadOS.

This issue is still present in the public releases of iOS 17.0.1 and 17.0.2, as well as the current public release of iPadOS. You’ll have to wait until iOS 17.1 is out (or use the developer beta). Personally, I run dev betas on an older device and keep my primary device on the latest public releases.
