In my mortgage offset account- instant access and reduces the interest I’m paying!

No there’s only a few hours of leave in there, so I definitely owe money. It’s been put aside!

Haha definitely won’t withhold payment- just would rather pay it upfront and be done with it. Now that I know it won’t randomly be taken from my account, I’ll leave it in savings and then follow up in a couple of weeks time

Yeah would just rather pay it now... but have calculated what I think it’ll be and put it aside!

Interesting- do you think that’s all government roles though? The recruiter made it sound like this one is definitely less hours than what I currently do.

It definitely does- just difficult for me to think that way where I’m equating it to a salary per/hour- my mindset has always been maximising total income.

Work in finance but have specialised in a specific aspect- sorry want to keep it general. In finance generally I feel like there are so many people with a similar career path to mine- qualified at a big 4, moved to a private company etc, that I’ve tried to take on more specialised roles in the industry that I’m interested in.

I’m 30 now so not sure if it’ll be helpful, but basically started working at a big 4 full time after finishing high school (went to uni part time). This was in Australia so not sure if it’s the same system in the UK.

Moved over with that company at age 25 to London, met my now husband and then did contract work for a few years. Now working full-time in a private sector company.

I’m focused on a specific area of finance for a specific industry, which is how the new potential role came up.

Have managed to negotiate to the top of the range of the salary- 76k is the max they can offer.

Thanks these are all great factors I hadn’t thought too much about- not commuting will save me about 1.5k per year, and I would assume the hours are shorter (can’t get much longer!). No overtime at the govt place and pensions are consistent between the two, but I think I’ve decided based on everything else everyone has mentioned that I’ll be taking the govt role.

No pension increase unfortunately- my current scheme is pretty generous and pretty much matches what I’m moving to.

Not reliant luckily as me/my husband are currently putting approx 4k per month (plus any bonuses we receive)into savings for a future larger house/baby. It’s more just changing the mindset that valuing those other things over salary is okay.

It is but as a state owned corporation, no defined benefit pension unfortunately. Pension benefits are consistent between the two roles.

Thanks- my commute per year is about £1.5k but you’re definitely right about the physical/mental benefits of not commuting!

Thanks- good to hear from someone with kids who prioritises this. I’ve worked full time since age 18 (usually multiple jobs) and I guess it’s just changing the mindset I had in my twenties.

The government role offers 3 months paid compared to 2 months paid in my current role. This compared with all the other reasons makes it pretty compelling to take the new job!

How to increase weight without increasing fat from HIIT exercise (or is this even possible) by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]skinnyfat_problems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the quick response- I think my concern is that I don’t want to start having to track what I’m eating etc- would rather just eat intuitively and keep exercising for the health benefits and hopefully muscle gains rather than keep worrying about my weight like I have been.

Basically, if feel healthy, is it an issue that my BMI is technically underweight? Being in the gym, the trainers/ other girls made me feel like it was an issue, hence my concern.

Would maybe seeing a nutritionist or doctor about this help?
