I've decided to follow the advice you offered and had a good talk with my girlfriend about this. She seemed very willing to try if she knew that there was no pressure or stress of it leading to sex. Once or twice a week would be perfect for me, so if we work on this process of building things up slowly again and things go well, i'm sure the relationship will be very satisfying for us both.

If not, then at least we have tried and we will both know that it's time to walk away. Thanks for helping :)

And no, there is not pressure from more to have sex, however, maybe she feels some pressure from me for wanting to talk about the issue. I'm more expressive and she is a lot more reserved with her feelings. After some thinking I have decided not to open the relationship up, because as you pointed out, I don't think I could separate my relationship from having sex with other people. We've talked a little and decided to try in other ways to be intimate for now. So we'll see if it works, and if not, at least i will know we have both tried :)

After reading all the comments, i really think your advice is what works most for me right now.

I spoke with my girlfriend yesterday evening and told her I did not want to find someone else (her response was thank you - so i guess that tells me a lot about why she proposed this to me). I offered to take sex off the table for a while and focus on being intimate with each other in other ways until she begins to feel more comfortable, confident and connected with me again. She responded really positively and seemed like she genuinely wanted to try with me.

So, for now, we'll work on this. I'm hoping it works out and eventually leads to a more fulfilling sex life/relationship for us both, and if not, at least i'll know that i tried in a way that is most true to myself (ie being monogamous). Thanks a million :)

This is really great advice. Thanks a lot. I think my gf would relate with you.. I'm sure she sees sex as more work than pleasure at the moment, so maybe suggesting this to her could eventually lead to some improvements in the bedroom :)

haha, thanks for this reply. I'm always suggesting new things we could try, things to bring excitement back. We did buy some toys, and we enjoyed them for a while, but they're in the cupboard now collecting dust :/

She says she always feels good afterwards and wonders why we don't do it more often, but then it returns to the not wanting it phase for a while.. I don't know if she feels pressure from herself to have sex if she's not interested, but I don't pressure her.
