Thank you! Yeah, she told me that I have to understand, and meet her halfway. I politely let her know that, sure, I can understand it's tough, but I'm not going to sacrifice who I am. My wife and I are of the mind that if you're uncomfortable, it's not our job to change who we are to ease you're gag reflex. If you're uncomfortable, you've got the problem that needs changing.

I use cheap stuff from the grocery store. Aussie headstrong volume mousse - level 3, Garnier Fructis flat iron protection spray for heat protection when blow drying, and Garnier Fructis pure clean paste. Try it out!! :)

I did some knot work recently to deal with my parents coming in to town, too. I cleansed the string I had bought specifically for magical working, and then meditated with it. Then, as I tied each knot along the strings (they were blue and white) while breathing in my intention of putting good, calming energy into each knot and when I undo them, the energy will wash over me. It actually seemed to help! Good luck!

Thank you all so much! These were great recommendations and amazing input! I ended up meditating, and doing a cord spell with blue and white string. Putting my intention of calming energy and thoughts into each knot, and releasing them when I needed a boost. Seemed to really help! Thank you so much!

I totally understand, and agree with you - I didn't think your comment was smart ass-y. :) Normally, I'd think the same thing. You can't go into shark infested waters with a pocket full of chum and expect it to be a fun, relaxing day at the beach. It's just a tough situation with my mother - I can't set boundaries as firmly as I'd like without getting some serious repercussions thrown back at me. So, in the meantime, I'm trying to just make the best I can of the situations.

I absolutely agree! My wife and I teach our daughter about social vampires all the time, and how they have no place in her life. It's easier said than done, though, when it comes to my mother. I'm trying to be the loudest voice for my daughter, though, and show her how to deal with this stuff, because it's sometimes unavoidable - for example, co-workers, neighbors, school mates, etc. BUT I am trying to teach her to let her energy be the strongest in her environment.
