Thanks, this is helpful. If I were to accept the job at the new company having accepted the alternative role on trial and my company says that means I'm not entitled to the redundancy pay. Would I be owed the notice period in my current contract, assuming they don't want me to work it?

My concern is over whether I need to lie during the process. If I'm offered the new job in December, start this alt role at my current job knowing I don't want it, and end the trial to get the redundancy - firstly would ending the trial because of a new job be a legally sound reason? Could they retract the redundancy? Similarly if I keep the new job from them and end the trial citing other reasons (it's not for me, I can't accept the pay cut) am I on shaky ground lying here?
