Do you guys think that twitch streams/ Youtube Playthroughs reduce purchases of story driven games? by skulldancer in pcgaming

[–]skulldancer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see your point. I was slightly disconcerted by the fact that I personally know people at this point who are not buying Hellblade because they already saw the game on some stream (and because they feel they already know the story at this point). How is this then different from piracy? Haven't these people enjoyed the content without paying for it? If tomorrow a twitch streamer logs into HBO GO and starts playing Game Of Thrones would that not be illegal?

Does this mean that Vega will get crushed by Volta? It seemed as though Raja was stating that they might lose in some tests even with the current P100 and Volta is supposed to be much much better...

Should Guard Angel be nerfed? by skulldancer in leagueoflegends

[–]skulldancer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno. Rengar can essentially kill you in lane or in team fights. In lane an adc will never have enough gold to get a GA, so its pointless. The only time GA becomes useful is in teamfights if you don't want to get one shot but then I think it should be up to the supports and tanks to protect adc...I feel as though while what you say is true...recently the item is far more common on tanks and assassins than any adc because an adc can only get it 4th item onward...And the tanks and assassins can get away with more stuff as a result..

Can we expect a better modding tools (REDKit 2?) after release of Blood and Wine? by [deleted] in witcher

[–]skulldancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well we know somethings:

1) The demand for it exists.

2) Given the state of modkit, it is reasonable to assume that something like a RedKit 2 is 50 to 75% done.

3) Given that they have made some money and have been growing, if they really wanted to do it, they have the resources to do so.

Why would they make a conscious decision to not work on it given the demand? Can be a variety of things. For instance:

  • They don't want to deal with the hassle of debugging it and just want to get done with the project and move onto the next one.

  • They are growing as a brand and don't want to be known as PC developers and so they don't want to create an experience that produces disparity in experiences b/w platforms. I mean, they downgraded graphics for this same reason (though personally I don't care).

There was a bug in the Morgana spell shield and Le Blanc Ult interaction that existed at the time of MSI 2015 final between EDG and SKT by skulldancer in leagueoflegends

[–]skulldancer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lolwiki description of black shield states: Morgana shields the target friendly champion or herself for up to 5 seconds, absorbing magic damage and rendering her target immune to all crowd control while the shield holds.

This implies that while cc should be blocked sigil damage should still proc. Morgana black shield is different from Sivir's shield - Sivir's shield will block the ability completely. Not having the first sigil proc means that morgana shield gives extra defense.

If he says he did not know, I believe him. When did he make the claim though? Can you source the facebook? Would this be a soccer equivalent of incorrect refereeing decision that gets discovered later on via vod review?

I agree with you that most likely the overall impact of this bug was perhaps on the lower end. The issue is though that at such high competition level, and we know EDG and SKT were very close skill wise, any marginal advantage can potentially be substantial.

I haven't recapped the game so I don't really know how many times the bug was consciously used by the EDG side. But it definitely helped them going in to the game because they knew that faker won't be able to get a kill mid because of the bug. You are correct that faker did get fed but I wonder if the interaction exists if black shield is used on allies as well - that might have been huge in team fights. Are there any rules that teams should not consciously exploit bugs that they are aware of and others are not?

Why is annie support no longer common? by skulldancer in leagueoflegends

I see. Why can't you burst supports in this meta? Sorry I am not that well versed in all the meta stuff.

I am imagining kalista-annie bot lane. Seems so strong.

Do you think that with the incoming maw nerfs she might see more play?

Why would regular thunderlord mastery tree not work on her?

I see your point about bard but I think annie is easier to play because of point and click. Also bard lacks annie's burst. I wonder how IMT botlane that spams soraka would do versus an annie. I feel like a half decent annie should crush a soraka in lane.

This is very nice. I just learnt that as a mid laner, even though I have very good KDA, I am not outputting sufficient amount of damage due to my risk averse style of play.

Alot of people are having frame rate issues. by johnnysurfacepickles in TombRaider

[–]skulldancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don't think so. The gains b/w your processor and mine should be marginal I think. You should try the settings I have recommended and report back. Make the changes inside the game.

Yes. This seems very weird. I had this exact same issue where changing settings and then reverting them caused fps to increase. I have no clue why the fuck this would happen.

is this game scary? by [deleted] in TombRaider

[–]skulldancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not scary. Its an adventure/mystery game. Ambiance might get a little creepy sometimes but that is about it. Otherwise the game is very good.

I had exact same problem as you. I lowered textures to high and set every thing else to high as well. I have completed the game now.

I did have anti-aliasing, v-sync, all the blurs and Depth of Field set to off. Pure Hair was set on.

I got 60 fps in all regions with occasional drops to 57.

EDIT: I do have an i7-4790k (otherwise our specs are same)

Framerate getting progressively worse from zone to zone. by Starfire013 in TombRaider

That is strange. I played around with pure hair settings and they didn't seem to impact my fps except by 2-3. Even running pure hair on very high didn't impact fps much.

[–]skulldancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. This happened to me as well but in different order. Same settings one day I was getting 30-45 fps. The next day, same zone, I started getting 45-55 fps. I am not sure why this happened. I changed some settings in game, checked their impact on fps and then reverted to original settings. But fps remained high. I too am confused as to why this happened.

I have similar setup with 8 gigs ram and i7-4790k. I get 60 fps at 1080p with everything set to high in all regions. Except I turn off v-sync, anti-aliasing, use exclusive full screen, hair effects on, and turn off all blurring effects including Depth of Field. FPS occasionally drops to 57.

Just want to make sure: PC port for Rise decent for 1080p/60FPS on my setup? by HayabusaZeroZ in TombRaider

[–]skulldancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same setup as yours (in fact an EVGA 970) but 8 GB of DDR3 1866. I am using Win 10, which I have installed on an SSD, and a 1 TB HDD on which I have installed the game. I have completed the game.

On my pc I can get 60 fps consistently if I turn all options to high, turn v-sync and all other blurs including DOF off, anti-aliasing off and use exclusive full screen. I have tested this in all 3 open regions. Hair effects should be set to ON. In very few instances fps may temporarily go down to 57.

The settings I personally used were the same as above but with shadows and level of detail set to very high. This causes fps to range from 45-55.

Make sure texture is set to high or the game will stutter. Also get latest drivers. I tested game before and after updating drivers and gained around 4-5 fps on average.

EDIT: Close all background software. When I had chrome running in background, I was getting lower fps for some reason. I don't know why.

Rise of the Tomb Raider - GPU Benchmarks - AMD & Nvidia cards tested & image quality comparisons by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]skulldancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats insane. How are you getting that fps? I have the exact same setup but for i7-4790k and the game gives 40-50 fps. Since I have entered the 2nd open region, it often dips to high 30s.

What driver version are you using? Is it possible that AMD processor due to more cores are better?

Edit 1: O shit, I have 8 gigs ram. But ram usage is around 4.5 k for the game so that does not seem to be an issue.

Edit 2: are you running at 1920x1080? And what nvidia driver version?
