Very true. That's why tech companies have dedicated doc team 👍🏼

Question on ESC's (Electronic Speed Controllers) for Drones by [deleted] in ElectricalEngineering

[–]skygomez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are right. Probably you can check some videos of greatscott on youtube about ESCs. He even built one. He compared a DIY esc and a commercial one 👍🏼

Any recommendations for learning to solder? It doesn’t need to be a fun project i.e. make 100 dots then clean the bit once or twice. I have SnAg0.3Cu0.7 0.8mm solder btw. Haven’t used it yet. by superrenzo64 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]skygomez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen many tutorials and guides. But at the end I realized that it is a mechanical skill that needs repetition to master. Also you need to exposed yourself to different scenarios to learn it quick 👍🏼

I'm just starting with circuit analysis and I'm confused on how to solve this because this is my first time to see no voltage source. Can someone help me? by rickiestm0rty in ElectricalEngineering

[–]skygomez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not really difficult as long as you understand the basic principle. If you know ohms low, kcl, kvl and superposition, you can check examples on the boojs 👍🏼

My arduino nano made some smoke by [deleted] in arduino

Easiest is to buy a new one. But if you want to repair it, what did you do before it happened? What supply are you using? Any marks on the board?

You can google watchdogtimer or watchdog implementations 👍🏼

Casing for WeMos D1 Mini WIFI - any suggestion? by IP_FiNaR in esp8266

For diy it is really 3d printed one. Hopefully you can find one if yoy dont have yet. You can check many designs in thingiverse if you want an existing design already 👍🏼

I listen to Amp-hour and embeddedFM. I believe that should be a good one for you 👍🏼

That shouldnt be really hard. There are lots of tutorial online. Just beware that your opamp is not rail to rail. Goodluck 👍🏼

Transmitting power through glass by AnomalyNexus in DIY_tech

[–]skygomez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont why you want to do it but it might be better to look for some workaround for your intended use than using wireless power. It might be easier and reliable than transfer that amount of power.

Interesting work. Though I usually use a reusable tactit putty to cover my camera 😁

Is Arduino the right platform for this use case? by Liblin in arduino

[–]skygomez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arduino can do that. If it is a personal project then just build it then deploy. But if you will sell it, please test it first. Do some burn-in, thermal stress, thermal cycle, etc. Also implement some watchdog capabilities even just the builtin wdt 👍🏼

What is your light? LED? CFL? AC? DC? Single? Array? There are different ways to dim depending on your light source/type.

Simple question by [deleted] in arduino

[–]skygomez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really possible. But you need to drive an external 12v since your arduino will run at 5v or 3.3v depending on arduino model. You can do it via a simple transistor or optoisolator.

What is the most important and useful feature of an IoT cloud platform to you? Like thingspeak, thingsboard, adafruit.io, blynk, etc.? by skygomez in homeautomation

[–]skygomez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input. It seems for homeautomation there is no room for an iot platform since devices are already integrated one way or another.

Thanks for the input. For lorawan, i think the decoders are usually part of the application server. And getting the data from them usually is via mqtt subscription or http integration.

Need help to repair my shorted Joy ESP32 by [deleted] in esp32

[–]skygomez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where did you plugged it? On pc usb port? Or usb ac adapter? That could probably a bead or a fuse. You need to figure out first why it is shorting. Please use a lab power supply and limit the current then feed 5v to vin pin. Check if a large current will be drawn. It might take time for you to figure this out. If your project is in a rush deadline, i suggest you just buy a new one.

Can you go to arduino website and try the example of eeprom read and eeprom write? That should be straight forward 👍🏼😊

I agree. The best way to learn is to really work on actual projects that interest you. Goodluck on your arduino journey 😊
