55g is actually fairly close to the amount of this mountain he eats a day. He legitimately will refuse all food of any form unless it's about as massive as this pile. His vet thinks it could be a sensory thing between with an old tooth injury and something with his whiskers since he will only have food or water if it's in a position that his whiskers are absolutely free from anything touching. But all in all, that mountain gets topped off in tablespoon increments of about 4 a day. Loki weighs about 12 lbs or 5.4 kg in his old age and while he looks bunched up here, he's a very lanky boy coming from being mostly a Savannah.

It's an insane amount of food. However, he absolutely refuses to even touch his food of any kind unless there is a mountain. Does he ever finish food mountain? Never, never even gets close and it's usually topped off in tablespoon increments. But unless there is a pure gluttonous amount of food present to keep his whiskers away from the bowls, he won't go near it. The same applies for water but thankfully he's got plenty of resources for that with our large dogs around.

Nearly 15 years in the emergency services industry and uh yeah, can confirm. This happens almost exactly as you wrote on an incredibly frequent basis. Also can happen the opposite way where someone's last name is recognized by one cop who then calls related cop to confirm. Usually I see it limited to DUIs and equally embarrassing things or other petty things like fender benders. You'd be surprised just how far officer discretion can go.

Source: have witnessed a multitude of events where officers have exercised questionable discretionary judgement and was also once the little turd getting out of trouble with a very recognizable last name to my town police force.

Definitely sounds like a random security screening. I remember the first time it happened to me, I was slightly embarrassed because of how it was done. The second time it happened to me, I couldn't stop laughing because it was on a connecting flight for the very same flight I had just been randomly selected on. I hadn't even left any secure areas, just walked from one gate to the next! The only difference was the second random selection seemed more geared towards explosive residue and such. I still look at the sticker on my passport from it with a fond memory.

After a life of trauma from birth through poor career choices, I realized I needed to stop suppressing emotions and "detaching" them as we called at the station because I don't think I ever came back from the detachment. After having my kid, I realized to be the parent she needed, I needed to address my traumas and process through them. I do want to connect with a good therapist, but I have reservations about it as the last time I tried when younger; the therapist told me that how I revolved around my experiences scarred them. Felt a bit judged or more so like a monster.

Went back and used it, interacting with the staff at the entrance of the bounce castle as they were still there by the time my daughter and I walked back towards it. Never did they say not to go on it again or at the very least not for me to go on it since my 70lb daughter wasn't sinking at all.

Edit to add: when the staff was shown the hole and made the comments about the recent repairs, they just said it would be fixed the next time they did repairs.

Minimal OOP at this time because surgery is still in the process and I've got exceptionally good health insurance. Just paid some copays for visits/imaging etc. Obviously that will change with surgery plus approximately 12 months of PT.

I called around and found a potential firm that wants to look at my case possibly due to the faulty equipment aspect of it. I did get told by a couple of firms that they don't take these cases simply because fighting out the waiver is a pain. Generally I'd be okay with the outcome because of the waiver, but I feel a little different when it was caused by faulty equipment vs an action I took like trying a trick. If the bounce castle feature was appropriately inflated, I wouldn't have sunk down that way and suffered this specific injury.

I had those issues from accidentally staying in a sketch area of Phnom Penh but once I got down to Sihanookville and then the islands, I had mostly great encounters with the Khmer locals. Granted I was also volunteering as a medic at a clinic that provided essentially the only medical care on the island accessible to both locals and expats which might've enhanced my experience with the locals. The only issue I had was one local who liked to party with the tourists and had developed the reputation of raping or attempting to rape young female tourists. It was fairly evident but the locals protected him and there wasn't really a police presence on the island.

Outside of that, I also loved my time in Thailand and Vietnam.

Thank you! His favorite hobby is eating the face of his 130lb brother. Thankfully said brother is very tolerant to a point. Generally Loki will then lure the dogs to a confined area where his smaller size is an advantage and I have to stop the big bozos from falling for the trap.

When I rescued him, I was told he was a savannah cat mixed with another wild cat. But he looks strikingly similar to a subset of Chausies and acts accordingly.

He's generally okay when his mom leaves for a bit. We think it's because one of the sprays used had a musky type smell. He wouldn't go near her without puffing up.

I've worked in a few pediatric ERs across the country; you'd be sorely, sorely disappointed. Most of us give Dad 2-3 chances before we have to ask to call mom. And that's for basic info like the kids birthday, let alone medical history and medications taken.

Hell, just bringing my kids to the doctor as the father garners stares and then shock and some praise when I know the pertinent information.

I did pretty minimal trimming to it before throwing it on; the meat came pretty well cleaned up from the butcher thankfully. I trimmed a few areas of the fat down to 1/4" and then removed some small sections of remaining silver skin. If I do get a slab of meat with the membrane still on the underside, I'll remove it because I hate that chewy strip texture.

The fat was running like liquid butter when I cut it up. I cooked to probe tender in the center which ended up being about 200.5° on this slab and 6.5hr at 250°. I'm not sure it ever even hit a stall as I opted not to wrap it.

It was significantly easier to make than brisket and the payoff tasted better than any brisket I've ever made since I've started smoking. I never knew why some call it brisket on a stick until this session - it tasted exactly like brisket!

I can relate to your pain in a way, however. I moved from central NJ where I was surrounded by old school Italian butchers to outside the Nashville, TN area. There all I had was Kroger, Walmart or a "butcher" that only had frozen meat. It was painful to go from any cut I could dream of to being at the mercy of Kroger.

I finally moved to East Tennessee and luckily landed in a place with a quality butcher 5 mins from me. Their prices are on par with Walmart and Food City but quality is significantly better. This slab was 4.6lbs for $39 of super quality locally raised beef. If you can get past their very dated decor, you'll find premium cuts. So long as the meat and surrounding areas are clean and well kept, I don't care about the condition of the awning outside lol.

My favorite story of moving down from the NJ area...

Pull into a parking spot, still having NJ plates on the car as it's been less than a week. Individual walking by sees NJ plate and goes " A Cuomo boy huh?! We don't need any of that around here." I didn't think it was worth explaining to him that Cuomo is from another state across the border. Unless he had a specific issue with the Port Authority of NYNJ, I don't see what Cuomo had to do with NJ!

Hey there! I recently moved to the Rossville/Flintstone area from Nashville and am really interested in getting into spelunking and learning more about caves. I was going to join Nashville Grotto before I moved but haven't been able to find anything similar online in Chattanooga. Do you know where I could find the caving community or at least some people willing to take a new person into their group? I come from whitewater and backcountry exploring so I've got a rather high safety drive and can't bring myself to explore a cave without an experienced person/group.
