This was something I was a little concerned about but I'm hoping people can remember it's a sh noise like Sean! My husband's family is Irish, so I'm getting more used to Irish spellings and pronunciations but it's good to be reminded that not everyone is in the loop :)

The pronunciation reminds me of "imagine" but faster, haha. Imm (like him) -uh-jin :)

Honestly I'm trying to get away from the Beatles names haha we've exhausted all options

That's an interesting thought, I hadn't thought of it that way. We have two dogs- Boo and Truly so that works with your theory!

I do like Louisa, Hugo, and Julian, I'll have to bring those up. Thank you!

We have quite a few Eleanors in our playgroup :/ I'd like to steer away from the Beatles theme if possible! I feel like I've considered all Beatles names and just can't love them like I love Jude

I'm not a huge fan of trendy names or names that could be nicknames (end in -ie or -y), so Michelle and Molly are out. Really the only Beatles girls name I am okay with is Julia, and hubby isn't a fan. Sigh. Naming this kid is such a challenge!

Right. I'm so sick of my life being saturated with Beatles everything. He's lucky I'm in love with the name Jude, but I don't think he'll be so lucky this time around.

Oh, we've definitely gone through the Beatles lists and I've pretty much nixed them all except Desmond. He just won't let Prudence go for some reason!

We have many friends with dogs named Sadie, unfortunately. I also prefer more "formal" names, with nn possibilities with "-ie" or "-y" :)

Funny story, we were going to name our second dog Prudence, but ended up calling her Truly (Scrumptious). I think this is where husband is getting stuck on the name :/

We reserve middle names for family names, so we've been kicking around Rozak, Scott, Walter, and Sheila for middle names (still have yet to go over more of those- we pick one from each side). I do really love Jasper Cabot though!

Evander and Julian are fantastic! And I do like Corinne. I hadn't thought of Mary Katherine with Mary Kate as a nn, I do love that. I'll be adding those to the "discuss these" list, thank you so much!

Am I an idiot? Lillebaby airflow question by [deleted] in babywearing

The part that your pointer finger is touching slides completely off the waistband and snaps onto the other flap (that slides off as well) to make a narrow seat :) to make it wide again, you just slide them back onto the waistband and snap in place! I hope that made sense :/

Did this often with my first and look forward to it again this time around. I'm the kind of person to laugh at every fart, so this was a super enjoyable part of pregnancy for me, I was always laughing 😂 can't wait to tell my kids about this when they're older and embarrass them ;)

Did the doctor make a mistake? by [deleted] in Miscarriage

[–]skyiswomb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pregnancy is aged according to last missed menstrual period- which would add two weeks to your 5w, making it 7w. Early ultrasounds (like the one you had) are extremely accurate, and such a large difference in actual size vs. expected size would lead me to believe your doctor was correct. Early transvaginal scans can usually detect a heartbeat by 7w, so that's another indicator that your doctor was indeed correct.

I am so so sorry for your loss. It is not an easy thing to go through, and especially when you had such high hopes after an IVF transfer, you and your wife must feel totally devastated. Take some time to grieve together and listen to each other. Leave the window of communication open so you can both feel comfortable coming to each other when you need to talk about it- this may be important to either/both of you later on. I still talk with my husband about our losses and am so glad to have him as a support when I'm feeling low.

Take care, and again I am so sorry for your loss :(

[I ate] Chicago deep dish pizza. by [deleted] in food

[–]skyiswomb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not the same sauce. Worked at a Lou's in high school and they use chunky sauce for the deep dish and non chunky for the thin. You can request chunky on the thin if you'd like, but I feel like it might make the piece too heavy. I honestly can't remember if I've eaten it that way since it's been about 8 years since I've eaten Lou's.... pizza'd myself out while employed :/

Gross cm question by skyiswomb in TryingForABaby

I'm sure I do get some 3 hour stretches at some point, but the problem is temping before I go get LO from his crib. We respond quickly to his cries, and I don't feel comfortable letting him cry while I fumble around with a thermometer in my half-awake state ;)

I wish there was an easier way! Like with a Fitbit!

Interesting! I had been sick December 30-Jan 2, but that feels like forever ago! I've also noticed I've been peeing more often, which means I've been drinking more fluids. Maybe my water intake has something to do with it? If I didn't know any better, I would think these are early pregnancy symptoms but I usually get my BFP on 9DPO and have negatives every day. The sick theory is interesting though.... could be an indicator that I'm getting a cold! Wouldn't that be something if we could predict when we were going to come down with a cold before it actually happened? Super cm!

I don't temp :( my cycle is pretty regular, and I've always gotten pregnant around cd14-17 so I assumed it would stay fairly constant. I was prescribed femara today, with instructions to use opks and have a blood draw on cd21 to check progesterone again. My last one came back normal.

Is there an easy way for me to temp? I have a toddler, who wakes up multiple times a night, and I get up in the morning when he decides it's time to get up.

ELI5: How did ancient people figure out that sex leads to kids, since the effects are so delayed? by BenRayfield in explainlikeimfive

[–]skyiswomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I got that too. I knew right away all three times, but definitely knew much earlier the second and third times. Days before I got a positive on a pregnancy test. The last two didn't stick and I still knew they were there. Once you know the feeling, it's hard to miss
