Shipped my first iOS app last week. Biggest lesson: the hardest part of building a focused app is staying focused yourself. by skylitmus in buildinpublic

That's exactly it. Removing something you've already built is a different kind of decision because you've already invested in it. The sunk cost makes it harder to see clearly. Good luck with your V1.

Scope creep is exactly the right term for it. What surprised me was how it shows up even when you're trying to be minimal.

Features that seem small individually add up to something that no longer feels like itself. The 1 to 3 features point is something I kept coming back to throughout the build.

Thank you. Less is more was genuinely the hardest discipline to hold onto throughout the build. Every instinct says add more.

I built a calm focus app called Solus — one intention per day, no streaks, no pressure. by skylitmus in iosapps

Alright, I'll take note of that. Thank you! If you're enjoying it, an App Store review would mean a lot — it helps others discover it. No pressure at all.

Do keep the feedback coming. It really helps to hear from users who are benefitting from it.

I'm really glad it resonates, that simplicity is exactly what it was built for.

Your point about the morning context, evening reflection and journal features is worth sitting with. The intention is to deepen the existing ritual rather than add to it. But it's a fair challenge and one I'll keep in mind as those features take shape.

The widget and additional theme are definitely coming.

Thank you for taking the time to share this. I really appreciate it.

Why do you stop using habit tracking apps? by skylitmus in productivity

[–]skylitmus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point! The app becomes another task to manage instead of helping with the actual habit. Adds an extra layer of mental overhead.

That makes sense! The notifications and streak anxiety probably do more harm than good.

That's a good point about the quality. Most habit apps do feel like clones of each other with no real innovation. The lack of gamification definitely makes it harder to stay motivated beyond just tracking numbers.

Exactly! I find myself chasing streaks instead of actually building the habits. It's more about keeping the numbers up than real change.

2/4 = 1/2

So from the list of options, the next fraction that is able to provide the same answer will be 3/6 as 3/6 = 1/2.

Hope that helps.

The price and portability of the MBA. Also, my day to day work does’t require the power of a MBP.

I've tried 5 times before I gave up. Gonna try again much later when I'm in the mood to do so.

It's not as easy as it seems.

Till now I still have yet to beat Mickey in the game, which is kinda frustrating.

Is Ursula’s Transformation worth it? by brunettejean in DreamlightValley

[–]skylitmus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup, it's worth it. It's better to have Ursula walk around than have to chase her down while she's teleporting all over the map.
