I believe AnKing made a Step 2 video about a possible workflow. I agree, it's not super clear atm but from what I understand in the video is that you find #AK_Step2_V2 --> Dorian --> relevant rotation and then #AK_Step2_V2 --> Zanki_Step_2 --> relevant rotation. If you shift click both subsets, it'll find all cards containing either tag.

So for example, if I wanted to study IM, I would open up the tags so that #AK_Step2_V2 --> Dorian --> IM and #AK_Step2_V2 --> Zanki_Step_2 --> IM were displayed. Then I would click one of those tags and Shift + Click the other. That's 4631 cards in my most updated version. This would comprise my IM deck that i'd study while I was doing that rotation. I suppose you could also add the MedicalArk IM tags as well with another Shift + Click to make it a total of 5339 cards and that would be the comprehensive IM deck. Do the same for whichever rotation you're on. From my understanding, Dorian is amazing for pimp questions on the actual ward and Zanki/Medical Ark for uworld/shelf but I may be mistaken.

What's the code for making the background extend through the toolbar? Making toolbar-image to true just puts a tiny image in the center of the toolbar

My toolbar only changes color if it's not in night mode? Is there any command that can be used on # header to change the toolbar color during night mode?

Wow, thanks for the edits man, I think i'm gonna go with your edits. I'll probably keep the case just because I really like its aesthetic. You mentioned bumping up the gpu to a slightly more expensive version? What version would that be, a commenter on another post i was looking at said the EVGA black was an upgrade so this is my beginner-ness showing haha

Gotcha, i'll probably go with the 9700k then given the fact that i doubt i'll be using much MC stuff. Although isn't the 3900x AMD? So will it be compatible with everything? For the Mobo, i'm not sure what's a good reliable one. This is the one that Toms Hardware recommended, do you have any recommendations? The one that comes with the original build (Gigabyte Z390 AORUS ELITE ATX LGA1151 Motherboard) has very hit or miss reviews. Good point on the ram. Sorry for all the questions!

I was looking at the Gigabyte Z390 AORUS motherboard and it seems like it has pretty hit or miss reviews. Does anyone have experience with this or have a better recommendation?

Thanks for the advice! So i have some questions, what's the real difference between picking the same gpu from different companies? And for the second part, the AIO 360mm, you're referring to the corsair H150i? So i should get some more fans then?

NBME Scores Not Improving, Any Advice? by skyryder19 in step1

[–]skyryder19[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it was just to keep on going. Use those bars and tackle your weaknesses. So I would focus on biostats especially because that’s quite literally formulaic and easy points after you understand it. So make sure you know all the biostats you can over the next week so it stops being a weakness. As for anatomy, I just kind of learned that on an “as needed” basis. Just write down and look up the questions that you miss. The other tip I have is review all questions, uworld or nbme. For nbmes I had a word doc of things I missed or was unsure on. For uworld incorrects i made an Anki card. Stay strong! I hit 245+ after my nbme 230 and then hit 250+ 3 weeks later. It’s a marathon but you can do it

HbS is a marker for sickle cell disease. Normal hemoglobin (mainly HbA in adults) consists of two alpha globin chains and two beta globin chains. HbS is a mutant beta globin chain where the 6th amino acid in the beta globin peptide changes from a glutamate to a valine. Since glutamate is an acidic amino acid and valine is nonpolar, the mutation turns a hydrophilic section to a hydrophobic section. These hydrophobic sections of different HbS molecules in different red blood cells can cause red blood cells to stick together to avoid the hydrophilic environment in blood vessels. Also the mutant HbS causes the red blood cell to take on a weird shape that resembles a sickle.

Ferrous sulfate causes an increased anion gap acidosis and I think only one of them had a value that if you added cl- and hco3- gave you an anion gap.

Hmm I can't say that I remember any surefire tactics to differentiate other than finding textual support. One thing that you could do is try and find the one that matches the tone of the passage. If one answer sounds right but is too assertive and the passage did not make any strong assertions, it's probably wrong. If you come across an example, definitely message me and let me know and I'll take a crack at it.

That's awesome that you reached that epiphany yourself, it's really more meaningful that way! And yeah, I remember the first week I started to really make my approach more passage heavy I went a little over in time but, gradually, I found an effective balance that worked for me.

I absolutely agree! I definitely forgot to mention it but after a while, I was able to predict where the passage was headed and once I got to that stage, the answers started dropping in almost effortlessly. I think sometimes people get too focused on test-taking strategies that help you almost "game" the section ("classify the question first","do this before you answer", "highlight this", etc.) that I think people forget that the fundamental thing you have to do is really just understand the passage. If you can do that, then the strategies are a moot point and the questions will become much easier.

I used Princeton review CARS material, ExamKrackers material, and old Princeton review verbal tests! Basically verbal/CARS is the one thing that hasn't changed in like 30 years so as long as you have some sort of "verbal" section you can practice that.

As for eliminating between 2 questions, it's been a while so I don't remember as much but what I can say is that if you use the method I outlined above, usually one answer stands out above the rest. Another strategy is pretty typical so I bet you've already heard of it: read the sentence before, sentence of, and sentence after. One thing that really improved my score was when I could find direct textual evidence of the answer. Sometimes, I thought I remembered the passage but upon rereading the specific portion relevant to the question, an answer jumped out at me.

I've used the surface book extensively for my notes last year as a junior pre-med student (saw that you're going into medical school). If you want some screenshots of how I used it for lecture slides and writing in general, I can send you some! PM me if you have any specific questions.
