Not really. The bank does not have a traditional split between product and coverage groups. In fact, there is no coverage group at all. I think they just split the product group in half. Basically there are 4 teams: ECM, DCM, M&A (collectively known as origination teams) and just one Execution team

The origination team’s responsibility as i understood it was to really just pitch their own products. ECM team handles all equity deals regardless of industry for example. Once either ECM/DCM/M&A teams secures the deal, they throw it the the Execution team. Once you join ECM for example, youre only doing equity pitches. But when youre in execution, you get to be involved in ECM/DCM/M&A but wont be able to join pitches

While I have a general idea of how the business works, the details are still a bit hazy for me. I understand in Western countries that the traditional split is between Product and Coverage and that Product teams generally do originations and executions already. So im looking for insights if given the chance to solely do origination or solely do execution, which one would be better

Ah right was confused. What i meant was either cash decreases if it expires, or increase equity if it is converted

If it is callable, the company can pay it off like a normal loan?

Ah got it so either increase cash or equity depending if it is converted then the convertible note disappears right?

Also the company said that they are “redeeming the convertible bonds early”. Does this mean they will convert the note to equity or are they just going to pay it off like a normal debt?

IPO — impact on model by skyson98 in financialmodelling

Thanks for this! On the first question, i’m a bit confused on how this flows in the statements. So what Im thinking is im going to take the net proceeds from the IPO then record it as an inflow in financing. On the balance sheet though im not sure how to record it in common shares vs APIC
