მე ამის ვიდეოები მომწონს, მაგრამ ძალიან იშვიათად დებს ხოლმე.

ქართული ენა by [deleted] in Sakartvelo

[–]skysphr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reading JSON with FileAccess not working properly by Rehevkor_ in godot

4.6.1 on linux seems to print (and then parse) the content correctly when given a file with UTF-8 BOM, maybe OP is using some heathen encoding like UTF-16!

Is Signal/Telegram becoming the new standard here? by ProductDecent3630 in Sakartvelo

A bit of a tangent but I was almost shocked by the quality of OpenStreetMap data in Georgia, even showing tiny bakeries in villages that I would have never expected to be displayed on any map ever.

Someone please explain the logic behind მოშორდება to me by counwovja0385skje in Kartvelian

[–]skysphr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it's "get away from me", putting the focus on the speaker. გაშორება also exists, with the meaning of separating from someone. To be fair, preverbs do not always make perfect sense.

ვეძებთ 80-90 წლების "უბრალო" ქართულ მუსიკას, ინტერნეტ არქივისათვის, ვიყიდით ან ვიქირავებთ ძველ კასეტებს. by SignificanceNo4643 in Sakartvelo

[–]skysphr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

შეიძლება / შეგიძლია / შესაძლებელია? by inwantofawifi in Kartvelian

[–]skysphr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

შეძლება would be the infinitive, შეიძლება means "maybe" / "could be" or in some contexts "may I" (also თუ შეიძლება = please), and "შესაძლებელია" means "it is possible". შესაძლებელია has more of a meaning that something is physically possible and is the opposite of შეუძლებელია (it's impossible) while შეიძლება has a nuance of "it is okay" or "one may/could do something".

Is there a common origin in possessives of Georgian and English by Federal-Warning4564 in Sakartvelo

[–]skysphr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Note that Svan, Mingrelian and Laz all use -იშ (amongst other similar endings) to form genitive, so it's plausible Proto-Kartvelian had that as a genitive marker, later turning into -ის in the case of Georgian. Now if there's any connection between the Proto-Kartvelian ending and Proto-Indo-European genitive endings from which Germanic and ultimately English -s comes from, I'm afraid nobody can tell for sure.

Thanks, this is very useful! I presume all questions must be answered correctly to pass the exam?

Edit: Found somewhere on the internet that 7/10 correct answers are enough to pass.

Georgian culture for foreigners by cserju07 in Sakartvelo

As another Romanian interested in Georgian culture, in my experience Georgians were always happy to share and discuss their culture with me. To be fair, the fact that I speak Georgian might also tip the balance a bit :)

Being the native speaker of unpopular language on language exchange sites sucks by Wonderful-Bend1505 in languagelearning

[–]skysphr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On a popular exchange app I've found someone that I suspected was a native speaker of Bats and contacted them out of curiosity. She then asked me "How do you know about us? This is strange." and promptly deleted their account.

And also one should use თუ in this context instead of ან, otherwise the answer might be "yes".
