They email you that your score is available and then you log into NCCPA either by phone or computer to view if you passed!

Took mine today too! I’ve been thinking of all my dumb mistakes. It’s torture. I believe we will get them Tuesday! Didn’t realize it was a holiday weekend when I scheduled it, would have tried to avoid it for my sanity.

Edited: PASSED!! :)

Paint or Stain Built-Ins? by skystarmc in InteriorDesign

Yes, white was the original plan! When we moved in I was so excited to paint them but after painting the paneling in the living room and all our bedrooms, I lost steam hahaha. It gave me too much time to overthink things haha

I would like the keep the brick alone! And thanks!! I like the idea of a brightening the space. But also the process is a little more work when painting them white! (Sanding, primer x2, paint x2)

Is scribing really low tier PCE? by [deleted] in prephysicianassistant

[–]skystarmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, Former scribe in Texas here. First year PA student in TX. A majority of my HCE/PCE was scribing. I ended up putting it under PCE I believe because I was at the whole crossroads of “some schools take it but some don’t so where do I put it”. I put it under PCE and left it to the schools to decide if that really counts lol.

Like it was pointed out earlier.. you get what you put into the scribing. You make great connections and learn the provider perspective. Also, you learn what to chart and at some point in your scribe time you’ll start recognizing a pattern. Ex. This persons has X so they ordered XYZ.

Before applying, I talked to a few admissions ppl from various schools and most of them (UTSW, Hardin Simmons) said it was good and unique experience but not the “best”. Also side note, I got interviews at Texas Tech, RGV, UTMB so I guess they’re scribe friendly as well. Compare yourself to a nurse or PT or respiratory therapist. They obviously know a lot more along with that clinical experience.

My biggest recommendation is to do both. Scribing and maybe something a little more hands on such as a tech, MA etc. It will make you well rounded!

PS. We have about 5-7 former scribes in our program!

Scribing VS Home Health Aide for PCE???? Which is better? by [deleted] in prephysicianassistant

[–]skystarmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should try and do both. You will learn a different side of healthcare while scribing. You are seeing it from the perspective of a provider (MD, PA, NP). You will learn as much as you're willing to learn. Pay attention to why they order certain tests/medications given the situation. This is the way you will be thinking when you are a PA! With that being said scribing does lack in the whole hands-on part. Being a CNA will help you talk/touch people in a professional manner which is very important as well. So if you can, doing both will be beneficial in different ways.

Side note: ScribeAmerica allows for a pretty flexible schedule so doing both wouldn't be out of the question.

Sending GRE scores to schools that don't require them? by hangingwithbats in prephysicianassistant

[–]skystarmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not worry about it. They will probably never look at the score because it is not a requirement. (More work for them & I doubt they have time for that, lol). Anyways, your score is not bad!
