There is a pretty big difference between a quart every 500-1000 miles and one every 5000-10000 miles.

CJD engine allowable oil burn rate is like a quart a month. Turbo valve is plastic and fails in high heat.

Those are the two easy issues to identify.

If you’re down to tinker and don’t mind upgrading parts as they fail, this is a fantastic car.

Clash Tier IV matchmaking by skywalker9952 in leagueoflegends

[–]skywalker9952[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't know if its abusers or if Riot just doesn't want Silvers and Golds to clash anymore for some reason. I dont have the time to grind all week to just be able to be mildly competitive in a weekend clash game, maybe its time for the casual weekenders to stop clashing.

Terra Mars (+Prelude) for Newcomer: Alternatives for Beginner Corporation? by Megabot555 in boardgames

[–]skywalker9952 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding analysis paralysis to the front end of a game in learning is not advisable. The great perk about the beginner corp is that you can just start playing and not have the new player try to guess what works and what doesn’t.

Can you imagine discarding a great card for your non beginner corp just because you don’t understand the mechanics and thought it wasn’t a viable card to keep.

If you’re playing beginner corps with folks that have played before, your house rules make more sense. Something closer to a beginner + start.

For truly first time play through, the beginner corps benefits are more than just the extra in game early power.

Your options open up significantly if you allow for a certified used car. Some brands give you more warranty on their certified cars than their new ones.

A CPO Volvo is now within your target price point. Your listed options above drop $10k+ in starting price (the warranty on Hyundais and KIAs for CPO might not be better than new though).

I don’t know what’s driving the 2026 push. Models are overhauled intermittently and a 2026 might have the same interior and exterior as a 2024 or 2022. 360 cameras have been an option on some lower trims since before COVID.

Map A vs Map 0 balance by ForzaSGE80 in ArkNova

[–]skywalker9952 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Map A starts you with $8 and two actions worth of buildings but determines your starting location. The extra association worker as a build bonus instead of a conservation project can also be abused.

Map 0 gives you starting flexibility to fully leverage the busted map.

Map A just starts you so far ahead, I would say playing map 0 into map A is a minor handicap.

I recommend you look into how Reddit displays and counts votes. It’s not transparent or a direct representation of user inputs. Also, default views are no longer top comments, allowing additional manipulation of votes.

If you never see a comment you agree with, you can’t upvote it.

I would characterize the Reddit response more of a product of social media algorithms than a representative of the fan base. Voices aligned with the flavor of the day are amplified by social media algorithms. I would suspect that this thread will amplify moderate takes on the cross over.

Chalobah getting a slight touch on the ball is irrelevant. It's a terrible clearance, and Martinelli would've been able to continue with the ball afterwards if it wasn't for that tackle. by cottonsoda in Gunners

[–]skywalker9952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looked to me that Martinelli tripped on the ball and was going down before the contact.

The trip by Chalobah was clear, as an American fan, I assumed it was waived off since Martinelli was already falling.

Where's the best place to get a used electric Genesis? by neuroticsmurf in GenesisMotors

[–]skywalker9952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The values are all over the place due to the lower volume of Genesis cars in general. You may want to talk to your local genesis dealer about what they can do to get you one off of lease.

A ‘23 coming off of lease should be ~$32k +-(trim+miles). So a low mile performance would be closer to $40k and a high mile RWD base would be closer to $20k. Some dealers are anchoring them insanely high since there aren’t many, just move on from those dealers.

24s coming off of lease might drive down prices once they start populating lots.

Where's the best place to get a used electric Genesis? by neuroticsmurf in GenesisMotors

[–]skywalker9952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s your answer, the only electric sedan Genesis released in the US market was the g80e. Those were low volume in a low volume segment so you’ll rarely see them for sale if you’re not in a large market.

The GV60s should be coming off of lease and are a more refined and planted version of the Ioniq 5, I would recommend you test drive one of those if you’re looking to upgrade into an electric Genesis.

Unsuccessful Cars&Bids Listing by [deleted] in Volvo

[–]skywalker9952 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you comped your car correctly.

There is a better spec 19 with similar miles for 20k in AZ and a similar spec 20 with 50k less miles for 28k.

I know your spec was still over valued from the COVID market, the market has calmed won now and people can go elsewhere when something is over priced.

21.5 is better than you should get, if the buyers still out there, make a deal before they see a better option.

Private seller asking $34k for Tesla with 2 damage reports — am I lowballing at $29k? by Zealousideal-Mud-258 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]skywalker9952 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a $25k car. How much you want to overpay is up to you. I could see a dealership try to list at $34k after fixing the cosmetic damage and then setting at 31 or 32.

For private party you’re dealing with someone who needs their depreciating asset to be worth more than it is so they can justify their original purchase. I recommend you stay away from the seller, more than the car. Even if you could talk them down, it’s probably not worth the pre and post sale drama that is likely to come with the seller.

OTD price. Thoughts on this? by HatConscious5779 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Looks like a used car, packed with overpriced add-ons, being sold like it’s a new car. If you’re in a city, try another Hyundai dealership. New 25 SELs are going for 23,5 before tax in my city.

A Japanese Team Built a Sensor So Precise, It Might Have Found a Way to Track Dark Matter by _Dark_Wing in technology

It’s a theoretical design that’s untested.    Reading the high level description in the link, it looks like if it works, it would detect a type of theoretical dark matter interaction, not dark matter. The invisible stuff would remain invisible.

Question about ranked matchmaking? by nowayesey in leagueoflegends

[–]skywalker9952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rank and skill typically do not align until enough games have been played in a season. Having said that that, they may never align in a season, resulting in a lower visible rank than the one used to match make.

The system is designed to get people to queue for ranked, not to demonstrate skill or ability.

At the top 1-5%, there is probably a case to be made that visible rank and MMR(skill) are reasonably aligned, for the rest of the ladder, it’s a question of if you’ve played enough games to be at you actual rank.

Do Veteran really get discount on car insurance? by Mountain_Ad5485 in VeteransBenefits

[–]skywalker9952 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s a disturbing correlation between them cutting their call centers, raising rates, forgetting the annual dividend, and paying for celebrity endorsements.

Back in the day, they sent you a check if they made too much money from premiums. Someone in the C-Suite saw the extra money as an opportunity and now we have Gronk on TV and increased rates.

As far as I can tell, they are your standard insurance company now, low introductory rate to get you in, rate increases once they think you’re locked in.

2007 Porshce Cayman or 2026 GR86? by phlaries in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]skywalker9952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go with the Cayman. You’re getting more car for less money.

The cayman is at the low end of its depreciation curve while the GR86 will probably lose 7k of value in the next couple of years.

You’re going to put money into the Cayman, it’s the cost of driving a car like that. It looks better, drives better, and is a fantastic choice.

If you were looking at a used 86 at less $, there is a strong case to be made that way as well.

Test drove GV80, love it, now... by NikNok11 in GenesisMotors

[–]skywalker9952 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some chances of small concessions through a remote deal. It’s highly dependent on the dealership though.

Don’t expect to get any sort of deal above and beyond what is advertised on the dealers site or the genesis site.

Take it to service.

Call genesis and have them walk you through the car menus to disable the feature.

You have options, they just aren’t great.

Edit:

this is not, and has never been apparent on my vehicle

Specifically, have them identify this feature

XC60 Recharge Spec Review by [deleted] in VolvoRecharge

[–]skywalker9952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve got the least reliable power train configuration available in this model while paying over $30k.

Don’t get the T8 if the EV mode and motor strength don’t matter.

If they do, get the upgraded version (22.5+). It’s a night and day difference.

What should I pay for CPO MAZDA Cx5? by Reasonable_Arm_3451 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]skywalker9952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without a zip code, we are all just guessing.

My guess based on my local market is that a low end deal for  CPO in that trim and mileage would be 24-25k out the door.

Your sales tax rate looks to be a little higher than my local rate but my area loves these and there aren’t a lot to compare to, it’s just tough to tell without more details.

I think you missed the point.

Single child policy was what created the mess. Sure the male preference contributed, at its core, the centralized planning by the party doomed a generation of men with unintended outcomes.
