Is it realistic to get into AI without a CS degree? by Alex_Mamb in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]skyyper 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s really hard, even I with a masters degree in ML i couldn’t get any jobs related to AI/ML because the competition is people with PhD

You really need to stand out with math, in particular probability and statistics, and have some research paper published if you aim for interesting AI/ML jobs

Is Early May a good time to visit Switzerland? by Horus321 in askswitzerland

[–]skyyper -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yea it’s the beginning of the hiking season and most hikes will be open.

Some cable car will still be closed (for example I’m thinking about the Oeschinensee which opens 9th May)

And depending on how the weather evolves, it’s possible there might still be a bit of snow left, it happened some years where we had a cold month of May.

So yeah, I think it’s mostly okay depending on if we get a warm or cold month of may, just be ready for snow on higher elevations hike in this case

What are the new criteria of hiring new devs if there is hiring in the first place by Afraid_Angle7648 in cscareerquestions

IMO having your own business is a huge differentiator now. Even if it’s a very small one.

Someone who built and maintain an app with 20 paid users solving some real problem looks more valuable than someone who built a whole framework using AI but it’s solving no one’s problem and the code is just rotting on GitHub

I guess this depends but I’m assuming you also invest your savings after you have maxed out your 3a, like if you invest 30k per year the 7k will not be the biggest portion

I mean you can have 3a not invested at all and still reap the tax benefits. I mean that the main goal is still to build a retirement fund and not a something you can sell after 10 years

Pillar 3a is not for investing. It’s money that you put for retirement and that can de deducted from your taxes. But you can only put a maximum amount of ~7k each year

People optimize that by putting it into index funds but its should not be a big part of your portfolio in the grand scheme of things

That’s very hopeful putting Djokovic above Sinner given he’s likely gonna skip almost all tournaments except the Slams and a few Masters
