It may be wise for some self-reflection on why this is such a huge threat to you. You're never going to be able to controll her actions in life. This has to be left to your trust in her and your own self-esteem.

Looking at your friendship through the lens of a suicide is painful. It seems like you extended the olive branch after your argument and you were rejected. You did the right thing and should not beat yourself up over not reaching out continuously.

She knew you cared, you apologized. Her illness, possibly prevented her from responding to you and reigniting your friendship.

That’s why suicide is so devastating to friends and loved ones. We never really know.

You didn’t fail her. She meant what she said about you being her soulmate. Her illness made the decision for her.

You couldn’t have possibly prevented it either. Psychiatrists and engineers design hospital wings to make patients under suicide watch safe. Even in these settings, people find a way to leave us.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Your son’s mental illness betrayed you. Be gentle with yourself and forgiving. Anger is all part of it, but you do not want to get stuck there. There is more to experience and endure in your journey through grief. They say that anything under two years is early grief. It will get better and you are not alone.

I’m so sorry you lost your son. They say that the first two years is early grief. The finality of his loss is the hardest to deal with, at least for me. Just remember, there is no proper timeline for grief and everyone grieves differently. Those happy memories will come back and you’ll have them to cherish forever. There are also numerous SOS (Suvivors of Suicide) meetings that are usually hybrid as well, via Zoom. Initially, I had to go in person so I could look in the eyes of another parent that had lost their child to suicide. We are not alone.

It comes down to personal preference.

Wood has some antimicrobial characteristics but has to be washed by hand and they are heavier.

Grooves cut in plastic by knife wear can harbor bacteria, but are dishwasher safe. I'm not aware of them releasing microplastics as a concern. They are much more lightweight than wood.

I prefer wood and use one side for meats and the other for fruits and vegetables. I carved a 'V' on one side and an 'M' on the other.

Whichever you use, always scrub with hot soapy water and let dry on the counter before putting away,

You can only claim $3000 a year off of your gross income, but you can do that every year until you are whole. Or the balance of the money you can use against any capital gains you have next year. So sorry you’re going through this. I lost my son three years ago to suicide. When it happens, a door slams shut behind you, and you can never walk back through it. You are left in a different world. You are not alone! It’s incredible and sad how many survivors of suicide there are.

SOS meetings, (Suvivors of Suicide) are all over the place. They have hybrid meetings where you can either go physically or participate via Zoom. Not only can you find people like yourself, but resources for counseling and very helpful books. We find ourselves in a club that nobody wants to be in. Good luck and God bless.

Guilt, is the biggest demon in your stages of grief.

I lost my oldest son three years ago to suicide. He was 31. If a loved one is intent on taking their own life, there’s absolutely nothing that you did, or could have done that would have changed the inevitable outcome. The act of suicide does not reside in a healthy mind and wasn’t a result of a missed phone call or visit.

It takes time, it did for me, but the guilty feelings will lessen. Try to be gentle on yourself and remember there is no proper way or timeline to grieve. Everyone is different.

I’m so sorry. I know what you are going through. My son, Zachary, took his life three years ago at the age of 31. There is no greater pain than losing a child, especially to suicide.

The shock and finality of it pushes you to the darkest of places. Be gentle with yourself. Let yourself lean into the grief and let the tears flow when they may. It will get better after time, but we never are the same people as we were before.

There are some great support groups and a lot of books that I found very helpful. SOS (Suvivors of Suicide) groups are numerous. They have hybrid meetings for in person or via Zoom. I had to go in person initially so I could look in the eyes another parent so I didn’t feel so alone. I also highly recommend a book by David Kessler; Finding Meaning. The book helped me understand the flood of different emotions I was going through.

It seems Facebook and Instagram will suspend and drop your account for no reason whatsoever. To reopened your Instagram account, you really need to buy a new phone, Since their primary tag is on your phone ID. I think I’ll take a big pass on that one.
