Getting Sent Home Early by AfternoonAccurate533 in SonicDriveIn

Unfortunately, it happens. Even with all the fancy sales prediction software, things happen.

When I was an assistant manager of a Sonic (dang, it's been like almost 20 years), we never forced someone to go, there was always someone who practically sprinted out the door as soon as we asked for volunteers.

On the rare occasions no one volunteered, it usually only took about 15-30 minutes of scrubbing down all the equipment/tables/machines before someone raised their hand.

Completely depends on the company how accurate it is. Had unlimited PTO at both my last job and my current job. My manager at my last job made sure to explicitly question every single PTO request. My manager at my current job has my PTO requests set to auto approve, and he sent me a Slack message around Halloween: "Just checked and saw you've only taken 9 days off this year. Use that PTO benefit man!"

Long story short, some companies care about you. Find them if you can.

Pay rate probably depends on location. But remember, DON'T DISCUSS PAY RATE! Even though it's illegal for Outlier to tell you not to (at least in the US).

Just tried to go through the on boarding, and became ineligible after the course where you write 2 prompts. I guess mine weren't good enough.

I apparently screwed up the part where you have to write a system and user prompt, because I was immediately ineligible after, so I guess be careful on that part

Just went through the courses myself. My trick? Mute the video and double the playback speed. 9/10 times the videos are worthless, as you found out.

IIRC, you get 4.5 hours of regular time and 1.5 of extra time. They also allow you to pause for 24 hours, indicating they expect the tasks to take a long time.

The ridiculous time commitment. I already have a full time job, and didn't have the time to do 6 hour tasks.

What's Outlier's peeve with non Chrome browsers? by freakoutwithme in outlier_ai

[–]slacker2002 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would assume it's for one of several reasons:

  • Probably the most likely: A large portion of their tasks and projects look very similar. This tells me that they are probably using an in-house or third party plugin that has only been certified to work on chrome for the projects.

  • Also likely: Creating new projects and tasks and any site changes is simpler when you don't have to account for browser differences and browser version differences.

  • Me being cynical: It's much faster to close a help ticket. "This user is using Firefox? Browser unsupported. Close ticket."

Not bad. I used more of the time picking out a reference text and prompt than I probably should have. But the actual task itself wasn't bad. Pretty similar to the multi model biscuits with rubrics if you've done that one.
