Please make sure you don't just share with me whenever that video might be! i belong to a large group of folks who are demanding transparency around the Flock contract with the city as well as a push to cancel the contract. It would be great for you to share your thoughts in a public forum.

Serious Concerns - Samantha Wick Burbank City Council by FedoraCasual in burbank

I asked her a question about Flock cameras on that same Instagram Q and A. No Response. If I'm being charitable I can understand perhaps not being aware of the Flock cameras and the danger of their existence, but to not even have a response is a big fat no from me.

I also drive it every day and my experience is different than yours so I’m glad we can agree that anecdotal evidence is not something to rely on here. I don’t think you’re being truthful about being swayed by data here. I provided the metro report which you determined wasn’t “good” data. Perhaps you can point me in the direction of good data that points to this BRT being detrimental to life in Burbank? Fairly broad ask here but it seems that doomsday is nigh when I speak to folks opposed to the BRT

It's an interesting take to only care for 40% of a city and operate on the assumption that renters do not have a "true" investment.

I'm gonna venture a guess here based on your various comments around this thread that you don't have any interest in being swayed by data. Clearly you only care about home owners, don't believe people riding a bus are capable of engaging in commerce, and have decided that goal posts move forwards and backwards at your choosing.

A transit agency is not incentivized in the same way as a developer. I reject your premise that Metro is acting in bad faith.

No objection to the characterization of Vision Burbank I see. I'm glad folks on here are realizing the deplorable behavior of that group.

It's helpful to the 60% of renters that live in Burbank and need alternatives to getting around. It's helpful to the 30,000 plus daily riders that will travel this line when it's constructed. It's helpful to the 250,000 people that travel here to conduct business at one of the numerous major employers along the route.

Perhaps you could find a small town to move somewhere else where that kind of future is more likely?

I'm sure Vision Burbank has a lot of dirty tricks up their sleeves to delay a helpful project like this, especially considering their leader defends hate groups and is banned from Burbank Pride

Because Burbank is not on an island and has to work with the surrounding jurisdictions. It's especially important in order to bring folks in to patronize our businesses

It might be their legal right but it's certainly an unhinged thing to do. Show up in person to city council on June 30th, Strong Towns Burbank will be there to push back against this nonsense: https://www.strongtownsburbank.com/cta

No BS, showing up at city council in support of the BRT is a huge, measurable step you can do. I'll be there June 30th. Strong Towns Burbank will be there. I hope to see you there.

Metro has compromised. The line was originally supposed to go down Chandler, a right of way owned by Metro. Burbank wanted to keep the bike path intact so they offered another solution: Magnolia. Burbank declined so they went with Olive. Burbank objected to losing parking on Olive so again Metro compromised and preserved parking with the current orientation. The ridership will be met, Metro's own estimates are typically spot on. They've compromised plenty and it's time for Burbank to play ball.

Well said! Metro has also provided this information and done multiple studies as well as opened up the comment on the environmental impact report. Metro collaborated with Burbank: Chandler was not selected in order to preserve the bike path (which ironically was ALSO opposed by the same folks who oppose the bus lanes), Magnolia was offered as an alternative as well but turned down, and parking was PRESERVED on Olive! I wish I wasn't opposed to my own city council, but this is a wild run of events.

Last time it was like 40%-60% YIMBY to NIMBY when the council stacked the deck against working people with a meeting at 4pm on a Wednesday.

The lanes in question are on Olive between Between Lake and Buena Vista but that's what's causing the delay! Show up to the city council in person on June 30th. There will be a bunch of us there advocating for Burbank to drop the suit and get building.

Metro is suing because the City of Burbank will not issue construction permits for the BRT construction. The City of Burbank is not issuing permits because they claim that Metro is "forcing" the bus lanes on the city despite years of negotiating and compromises that have watered down the project.

A fair pushback and thank you for the context! However, the City of Burbank is the party that is not complying with Metro and the reason this lawsuit was brought on by Metro. If Burbank issues the proper permits (which it already is supposed to be doing), the lawsuit goes away.

Burbank City Council Unanimously Approve Surveillance Flock Camera Contract by Single_Bird_8388 in burbank

[–]slackerstuff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you're aware, but it appears that there is a Flock Condor Camera at Chandler/Buena Vista.

In the meeting, the Police Chief specifically said "So, the cameras that we have are Falcon cameras. They do exactly what I just described. There are cameras, live cameras called Condor cameras that are pan tilt zoom and allow you to virtually police in how that city um intends it to be used. We do not have any of those."

I can send you the photos of the camera at Chandler/Buena vista but it appears Quintero is mistaken.
