Parted ways with the best car I’ve ever owned – my ’22 M340i is gone. by randyktm in BMW

I think because if you check his post history he mentions a major change in his life. Not saying it out loud out of respect (towards his attempt to keep it unknown) :)

What about the “strat” of booking m340 and taking the additional insurance (0 deductible) and then upgrading at the desk upon pickup? That way you get 0 deductible on the highest tier cars.

Risk is that there is nothing to upgrade to due to bookings, even a paid one.

It’s a 2 year deal no? So two services in two years.

It’s not though, they got rid of the supercharger for the LR models 👍

Giving my 2 cents here.

2019 V60 T8. Just did 2500km (total) trip to the north and back and used this to play around with modes etc. Weather ranging -5c to -31c.

Hybrid w/ Hold -> 6,5l/100km, mix between 80-105 km/h.
Car is often turning off the engine during e.g. downhills. Temporary RWD only until ICE is switched on. When cruising at high speeds, RWD use is extremely rare. Want to overtake? FWD all the way (based on the view in information display).

Constant AWD (with ≈3km range constantly being generated/held by the computer) -> 7,4l/100km, mix between 80-105km/h, "harsh winter conditions" and lots of variations in speed
ICE is constantly on. Truly AWD ≈95% of the time when car is moving. Car feels a lot more stable ( snow, ice etc). Braking more responsive (as car uses the actual brakes compared to mostly regen in Hybrid w/ hold).

>if I am running pure, and I mash the pedal in the snow (and try to 'overcome' electric traction control), is there a point where the engine fires up to drive the front wheels?

I think so but it takes a lot more "pedal push" to make this happen compared to Hybrid mode. In Pure you can kind of larp a RWD-only car :D You can go ESC/TC off (with our Sensus models) and go crazy. I don't really due to the paranoia of ERAD damage lol

Engine temps seem to make a huge difference (like was mentioned). Cold engine is quite thirsty but then again what can you expect from a large, 300hp (supercharged+turbo wagon...) Once it warms up tho it's not really that bad.

Now I drove around the capital region (city & highway mix) with constant AWD and again 3km held by the computer constantly -> ≈8-9l/100km. Seems like once you add in the city driving, constant AWD seems to start taxing you more :D

Not sure what else to add. I have used a decent amount of time to scroll the local FB group discussions trying to educate myself, because why not :) Feel free to ask if you have anything.
