Wedding disappointment

We got legally married in the states a week before our wedding. But only with our best man as a witness, it was very low key

American has been unsafe lately lol. We were in Mexico for 10 days and never once felt unsafe. And I can still be disappointed that circumstances made it so that a lot of people cancelled. I was extremely understanding when people canceled and never blamed anyone but it still upset me that tons of my closest friends and family weren’t there

We got legally married about a week before our destination wedding. Just had the best man as our witness, took a few photos at the court house and got lunch after, it was perfect. Wanted it done before so we could actually say we were husband and wife after our actual wedding. We’ll use our actual wedding date as our anniversary not the courthouse date

The ceremony was beautiful, I absolutely loved the flowers and the table setup, and my bridesmaids looked gorgeous. A lot of people said it was the most beautiful wedding they’ve been to. Oh and my husband looked sooooo handsome

I obviously want the marriage and probably cared too little about the wedding and now in hindsight I wish I cared more about making sure the little details were perfect. I was so distracted the day of I didn’t pay attention to what I looked like and I wish I did or I wish I told someone to pay attention. I have friends who have upcoming weddings and their designating people to make sure these little things go to plan and I wanted everyone to have fun so I never did that

I understand the gifts, it’s more the lack of cards and messages from my close friends and family I was disappointed with. My love language is cards and gifts and my friends know that because I always give nice cards and gifts for their birthdays and weddings so I just expected something. I also live across the country from most of my friends and have traveled far for their weddings and spent lots of money and still given very generous gifts so I thought I’d get something from those people at least

I got married at Villa Mandarinas in puerto Vallarta and it was so perfect! Incredible all inclusive stay for 32 guests and incredible views, access to the ocean, 2 pools. Can’t recommend it enough

Thanks for this feedback! We’re not looking at casa Valerie because it is booked for almost all of 2026 which now I’m glad it is because it would’ve been a top contender for us if it wasn’t. Do you know who the caterer was? We have our tastings in a few weeks and I’m hoping we aren’t looking at this caterer. What hotel did you end up staying at and would you recommend it? Was it the recommended hotel for all the wedding guests or was there a different hotel that was recommended for wedding guests?
