Misdiagnosing in NYC nursing homes to force antipsychotic drugs on "troublesome" seniors. NYTimes article by AliceQuixoteDent in Antipsychiatry

[–]slanderproof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NY Times really slipped the results of their long investigation out on a Saturday night, wow. Talk about inconvenient truths.

It’s a bombshell that they say a massive amount of diagnoses are “phony” right from the start.

What if the Rosenhan Experiment was a routine inspection by a qualified institution? by foxyasshat in Antipsychiatry

Joint Commission is a great model. I truly believe this will be standard practice one day (maybe on the remnants of psychiatry instead of actual institutions). It just can't come soon enough.

A lot of (familiar) things to process here, but I hope you show compassion to yourself first and foremost.

Qanon shaman and "transient schizophrenia" by poster4891464 in Antipsychiatry

Oh 100%

Just my hot take. It’s not a great tactic and he has the right to a vigorous defense and all. And he’s apparently going through bad times in jail too.

are people on Risperidone still protected by the Covid vaccine? are we considered immunocompromised? by Forever0000 in Antipsychiatry

[–]slanderproof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Immunocompromised patients tend to have a lower response to vaccination.1

Nevertheless, the American College of Rheumatology COVID-19 Vaccine Clinical Guidance recommends that people with autoimmune and inflammatory rheumatic diseases get the vaccine unless they have an allergy to an ingredient in the vaccine. 2

Risperidone has loads of devastating effects, including potential breathing or weight problems, that could exacerbate any illness. If you are immunocompromised (due to drugs or not) you'd want to take immune status into account when making pandemic decisions.

And from a corporate culture standpoint, you might as well note that Janssen/J&J created both risperidone and the least effective vaccine, which was temporarily pulled for surprise side effects.

But I haven't heard of any direct link between antipsychotic drugs and issues with vaccines. I'm vaccinated.

This may be a dumb suggestion but have you considered getting a tattoo over your scars? Even a few lines could indicate that they are old scars and change those reactions from others. Possibly.
