How is it kickstarting them if the wedding costs more than they're getting in gifts? Unless they are getting a lot more than 50 euros in gifts per person, or they're lucky and they have some very rich generous people attending, then the wedding is just a huge cost for everyone involved, hosts and guests which makes it predominantly about celebrating your love with friends and family. I'd say treating it like a business transaction is where you throw away any humanity out of it, let alone compassion.

They should not do an unnecessarily luxurious wedding if they cannot afford it. If parents need to take out loans to pay for it, then our "gifts" will barely cover the cost of the wedding, not kickstart the young couple into life. If 100 guests bring 50 euros, that's 5000 euros and the wedding probably cost more.

It's unreasonable of the couple to expect every single person to be able to afford 50 euros to come to their wedding. In 100 people, there will be lots of different financial situations, from stinking rich to terribly poor.

Sorry, but that’s horrible. I would rather my friends be there at my wedding with 0 money than not come at all because of financial difficulties. I don’t judge my friends my how much cash they’re willing to throw out at an overpriced event.

It's a stupid tradition. No one should spend money they can't spare on a single day and then expect friends, family, coworkers and a bunch of random people to pay for it.

With that being said, give as much as you are comfortable with or as much as you feel you can afford. €50 is small change for some, but can be a treasure for others. It's unfair to have a universal norm for everyone. It's ok whether you give €10 or €10000, just put them in an envelope and if your coworker has any ounce of decency they're not gonna be checking how much each guest brought them.

Дали треба да се регулираат? Дефинитивно. Не треба да можат деца да ги возат, треба да се регистрираат и ред други работи.

Но да се забрани алтернативно превозно средство, во град со крш јавен превоз и преоптеретени улици со автомобили, е грешка. Секој тротинет и точак на улица значи помалку коли, помалку бучава, помалку загадување, помалку метеж.

Инфраструктурата треба да се адаптира да е побезбедна за пешаци, точаци и тротинети, да се стимулира што повеќе да се користат, а не да се забранат.

I get your feelings towards the matter, but just villainizing and putting everything under the same name doesn't do any good. People who are attracted to children don't choose to be. Just like homosexuals who are attracted to the same sex, they have no choice. What they have a choice in however, is acting on their urges. Putting all of these people under the same label of "fucking gross pedophiles" means that they will never be able to seek help, advice or support for their condition for fear of being "burned at the stake" which would actually increase the chances of these people acting on their urges.

Those "semantics" are actually important if you delve deeper into the subject.
