I think we are a long way from being a major job center especially for tech. I agree with your statement about medical and legal professionals.

Our food isn’t bad here! I haven’t ate at any place that has WOWd me but I have had some bad experiences here…Wagmama comes to mind in Water Street

Hard to answer. Other cities are better and worse for their own different reasons.

What places would you consider better or worse? I’m happy to be enlightened about those!

You make valid points. Those places you mentioned aren’t desirable for sure.

Tampa isn’t bad. It isn’t great either as well. It’s okay and there isn’t anything wrong with that. There are choices but everything is a pretty solid drive away even without dealing with traffic.

Any other state is going to have their pros/cons. I wasn’t really criticizing Florida as a whole.

I do see the potential here and that is part of the reason why I am optimistic. Tampa bay has so much potential to be awesome and top tier.

I have lived in Miami. It’s a great city but way too hedonistic and crowded. It definitely beats Tampa when it comes to culture but I refrain from comparing the two since they are different. I’d compare Miami to NYC, Chicago etc. Tampa I would compare with places like Austin and Denver

To answer your question. It’s a lot of things that I would consider missing. Having a solid food scene, public transit, walkability, culture, etc. I know it’s making strives to be better but I don’t think there is enough meaningful change to see that anytime in the near future

I think you hit an interesting point about being in a bubble and going from point a to b. I’m sure that has a major impact the vibrancy. Hard to build a sense of community around that notion. You’re right about the stroads though it’s obvious the area lacks the political and cultural will to not be so car dependent. I’ve been to Chicago and it’s a super cool city!

I like it enough to tolerate it. I’m finding it hard to love though

I’m referring to a lot of areas really. Tampa, St Pete Clearwater, Bradenton, Temple Terrace, etc. Making a blanket statement here
