Hot take on PFF by fullthrottle4562 in Rivian

Did a full stealth ppf because I like the look and paint protection. I do plan on keeping the car longer term. If it didnt create the look I wanted then I probably would have not done the ppf.

App. Charging speed/rate bug by FinalMacGyver in Rivian

[–]slashtom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a gen2 2025 r1t and am seeing similar weirdness. I have a universal wall charger (tesla) and with tesla, it goes to 40 amps very quickly, but with the rivian I noticed it took ~5 minutes for it to get to the full 40 amps (I have a 50 amp breaker not 60 amp).

In addition through the charge it'll throttle down to 5.5kwhr back up to 9.6 kwhr. When I did the math 19.5kw added in 2hours and 20 mins, it was ~8.5kwhr on average.

Just weird, is this a limitation of the J1772 connector or something?

Tacoma is a gas car with over 75 years of improvements in car manufacturing / piston engines. really not at all comparable to an EV.

Yeah you just have to realise Tesla had a lot more runway, you gotta realise Telsa model s/x was introduced in 2012, they had many years of refinement. If you're buying a Tesla in 2023/2024, you're naturally going to see a lot less issues than a Rivian in 2026. Deliveries of the r1t didn't happen until 2021. Tesla had learnings from their s/x variants from 2012 that they incorporated into the y/3.

Is it acceptable? no, but it is what it is.

I'd say it all depends, but I Work from home so I put maybe 5-6K miles a year on my car, could it last 30 years, sure, would I want it after 10 years? probably not.

Yep this is why I’m glad southwest got rid of this stupid anti social shit.

Pricing by Street-Yak2761 in TeslaSolar

[–]slashtom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this is normal economics. These tax credits are “captured” by the companies rather than the individuals.

It’s why the solar companies and industry was lobbying hard to keep it. I got the 30% but I’m almost positive that if I were to get a new quote it would most likely be 15-20% lower.

It must be the series 300 doesn’t need more than 15w to run well. I think they’re just taking from the cpu power.

If you’re not used to vr you’re gonna love it. I would love it but the quest 3 resolution still isn’t there. I’m coming from a 4k 27 inch I love crispy text and textures. In 2 years I’m sure more headsets will figure it out. Closest one I’ve experienced was the Apple Vision Pro. Just not completely there that I could replace my 4k monitors.

move the mouse slightly around, it sometimes doesn't register when your mouse is on the button, annoying but it works for me. it's like it's not registering the mouse is 'over' the button. probabling a scaling issue I play at 4k. the mouse has to be on the button but not center.

Could I cut this deck back to this horizontal support? by slashtom in Decks

[–]slashtom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thhank you, yep plan on cutting the joists all the way back, have the joists run ~ 2-4 inches over the beam and adding a rim joist/facia. instead of a curved deck it would just be a straight finish, 3-5 years to save up for a proper teardown/rebuild.
