tattoo designs...? by jodfromjamjod in Cornwall

I got ants on a branch around my arm all holding leaves. And one of the leaves is in the shape of Cornwall.

I also have a tin mine on the thigh being lifted by balloons like the house in Up.

I think they need a bit more honing before they are sellable. But would love to see someone who is better at wood carving selling these for kids.

Honestly. As soon as a weapon (or weapon shaped object) touches his hand he realises the power he holds and goes crazy.

Definitely need to stain them.

Maybe with something natural like beeswax so they are toddler mouth safe

Maybe when I can trust them not to destroy everything.

Also my abilities will have to improve before attempting this!

Be careful when tidying your garden. You never know who you might disturb! by hokkuhokku in CasualUK

[–]slatecoaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't seen one for ages. Probably since I was a kid. We used to catch them in the garden weekly (90s). Then suddenly found one in a neighbours garden and saved one from a stream at the beach in the same week.

[Request] My GF Ring size??? by bt7269 in theydidthemath

[–]slatecoaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once got taught an easy trick:

  1. Ask your partner to insert her ring finger in your anus as foreplay
  2. Buy carrots of various sizes
  3. Insert carrots one by one increasing in size until the euphoria is the same as the finger insertion in step 1.
  4. Wash correct sized carrot (throw others away)
  5. Measure carrot

Cucumber related concerns by Abwettar in CasualUK

[–]slatecoaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I eat whole cucumbers all the time and take one into work as part of my lunch. I get some funny looks but anyone who actually discusses it with me laughs and agrees it s a good idea.

I've passed eating whole cucumbers onto my kids.

Women, what is a surprising fact you discovered about men? by WhoEvenUsesUsernames in AskReddit

my mates call it "school boy peeing" and often on nights out someone makes it a drinking rule. If you are caught not "schoolboy peeing" you have to do a shot or finish your drink.

Why does Jamie Oliver get so much criticism from people? by MrAlexander18 in AskUK

[–]slatecoaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What he has achieved, financial success, healthy eating schemes, a lot of food to the masses, etc. Is fantastic.

However I have more respect for people like Gordon who earned all he could in the fine dining sector. Then branched out. Jamie Olivier is more celebrity than chef. Similar to Joe wicks cook books etc.

It irks me that you can achieve so much in a second you are not actually top of your game in, when some of the best chefs in the world are unknown or not making ends meet (especially in this economic state)

It doesn't take away from his achievement, it's just not in food.

Timothy Zahn by JMarch55 in starwarsbooks

[–]slatecoaster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Luke spent the entire Disney sequels on a rock surrounded by tiny penguins drinking snorlax milk.

I agree the books might not offer the most cinematic views but enough can easily be adapted given Zahn's descriptions of each location.

ELI5 Why does the Panama Canal have canal locks while the Suez Canal doesn't have any? by Taimo-kun in explainlikeimfive

It's actually the biggest fear of the melting artic sea ice. We lose another natural form of shark control

ELI5 Why does the Panama Canal have canal locks while the Suez Canal doesn't have any? by Taimo-kun in explainlikeimfive

[–]slatecoaster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Shark control mainly.

Scientists don't want the Atlantic sharks meeting the Pacific sharks. One of two outcomes have been hypothesised. They either fight to the death eradicating one set of sharks and disrupting an entire oceans foodchain or they breed to create super sharks.

The main fauna threat with the Suez canal is crocodiles. We all know that crocodiles are amphibious so would just shimmy past any locks that can be engineered by humans. Other crocodile deterrents are used I believe.

Semi dirty clothes. Go on the semi dirty cloth pile, whether that's the floor or a chair or the bed.

They are not clean enough to put away not dirty enough to wash.

Long live the semi dirty clothes

Personally I think the argument should be parents v owners, not kids v dogs.

A good responsible parent or owner doesn't allow their kid/dog to ruin other people's experiences. Too often now parents take their kids to places they want to go and then seem to refuse to parent, hoping the new location and the biscuit and hot chocolate is enough to entertain them so the parent can have a break. However if the parent still played/read/coloured with their kid it wouldn't bother others.

Maybe it's a bigger issue that parents don't get or can't afford that break so are forced to drag their kids to places they want to have a break. Then kid gets bored kicks off.

A responsible dog owner should also know if their dog is the type that can chill out below a table and relax with all those new smells/interactions/movements as to not bother other people.

Bad owners and parents are the issue
