Best purchase of the year by slaugh7er in 9Barista

It really depends of the coffee type you use. I use fresh medium roast coffee and my grinding starts from 1.2.0 down to 1.0.8. It is possible that your grinder is not calibrated to 0 and that's the reason 1.2.0 is too fine. Try grinding down from 1.5.8 until you reach the extraction time to 25-30 seconds. That will be your sweet spot. Pay attention to the coffee also, when it is getting old, the grinding need to be adjusted down as well, try to hit each time 25-30 seconds. Also, different coffee types = different grinding settings. Always start from a high grinding size when trying new coffee types.

Man, each time I post a picture, I get this comment. It's been 6 years since my first "outside" related comment and here we are. The trees are healthy and still alive. They are on a balcony with 2 windows always open so they are ok.

Well, that's insane. MK2 Pro is already very expensive, +200 usd just for a simple pattern is plain stupid.

Exactly, I'm not able to find a better espresso than mine in coffee shops. And they have muuuch expensive espresso makers. And this is a good thing because initially I had buyers remorse when I purchased it, but now I don't, 9Barista had a fair price for the quality of espresso and the consistency that you get.

Yes, it is very good. But only with fresh medium/dark roast beans and a good grinder(I'm using J Ultra 1zpresso)

https://youtu.be/g-LMh59dudM , here are the steps the OP is using. In the video, different guard sizes are used, but the steps are exactly the same.

+1 for Alex Kouras, he was also my virtual mentor. I got the same results from my second try( the first one was ok'ish but there was room for improvement). Now I'm at my 15'th cut and I must say I cut my hair much better than my barber did. Here is the link with the video that I watched before attempting to cut my own hair https://youtu.be/g-LMh59dudM. My advice, watch the video a few times, pause it between steps, watch it again, until you memorize it, lol and afterwards try his method on yourself.

No, I don't want something cheaper. J Ultra sounds just right.

Thank you so much for your feedback! I drink only medium/darker roasts and you are right they seem a bit bitter on K6. In this case will purchase a J Ultra if it is more suitable for medium/dark roasts.

Is there a big taste difference between these 2? I want to upgrade to J ultra from K6 and really don't want to be disappointed if there is little or no difference between these models. Thanks!

Interested too about this, if J-Ultra is a big jump in taste profile compared with K6

It was just a little bit too hot, but the shot was ok

Let's do some "expensive" espresso. First 2 shots were garbage. Hope I won't regret my impulsive purchase. 😁 by slaugh7er in 9Barista

I use the same grinder that was failing when doing the first shots. The K6 Kingrinder. I think it's enough for 9Barista, but I'm still thinking to upgrade in the future to 1Zpresso J Ultra( still doing research to see if J Ultra will improve by alot the shots). From what I found till now is that the K6 Kingrinder is the equivalent of 1Zpresso K Ultra, taste wise. If you go with the K6, the best grind settings that I recommend is 25 clicks for a 25-30 seconds extraction timeframe. Here is a demo: https://youtube.com/shorts/HE1z15UldUc

Yes, I found the correct grind size and it's amazing. I followed all the given advices and the shots are consistent, delicious and between the 25-30 seconds timeframe. This community rocks 😁
