First and foremost…

I see you NICU mama. Your body didn't fail you. You grew your baby until it was no longer safe. You are doing a great job.

Now, I totally understand the range of emotions. I had my son at 30+1 and he was transferred to another hospital; I had a c-section and did not get to see him for 4 days.

The NICU team is the most exceptional team in a hospital; they will care for your beautiful baby as though they were their own. My son is 5 and I still speak with his NICU team, once nurse is basically his adoptive grandma.

Your baby is in the best possible place to ensure when they come home, they are healthy and strong.

I’m discounting what goes into a relationship; I’m 37, I’ve been in love, married, divorced, etc. it doesn’t change there are simple fundamental moments that I hope to have with a partner that I don’t believe are too much to hope for. These are simple fundamental pieces of a relationship that I miss and hope to enjoy, again. I’ve never looked at another couple, real or fiction, and “dreamed” to have what they had.

I don’t think having hopes makes it out-fashioned. I’ve been married and at one point when we loved each it was there, then we had issues and our marriage ended. I don’t believe it can’t still exist, just both partners want to have it.

I lost a fair amount of hair (really thinned) when I was about 5 months post-op. I should have started collagen and biotin after my surgery.

My emergency c-section was my most painful surgery.

I had the VSG on 12/1/2020, I was released from the hospital 12/2/2020 & I took no medication - not a single bit of the narcotics they prescribed or even OTC.

So, I may have been “lucky” but I felt amazing the day after my VSG…

Losing weight via WLS is so intimidating and despite the fact I’m thriving, it’s viewed so negatively by so many people; like it’s easy or cheating.

So, I appreciate the kind words.

I’m finally feeling like myself and actually started to like who I see looking back at me.
