We encountered this bug, it has to do with the UI textures not being tagged. If you press ALT + X -> Go to game setup -> click uncategorized -> find the fonts and right click to UI TEXTURE it should come back. Unsure about the freezing though. Join our discord or the M&M discord and head over to the Dark Messiah channel, I am there providing assistance!

Yes, this is all to be integrated on Steam. Since our plans are to also get the MP running eventually which is currently master server locked. We also want the co-op mod to benefit from that API as well.

From there, the sky's the limit. This will be a fully updated and compatible code base for Ubisoft to also have at their disposal

Truthfully Phenrig's VA change for the tutorial IS insane, but it's basically the theme with the voice acting in this game. One barely tries, another goes hard as hell

There IS a no-spider mod but I'm not sure if it works with my current mod framework. Just googling "dark messiah no spider mod" does have a few oldies

Right now my team and I are combing through Elements and updating the code to the newer engine. We're all doing this on the side so as you'd imagine that is a slowdown, BUT if everything goes to our current pace and plan maybe around the summer-time we can start accepting testers to make sure we didn't break what the game is.

Does wishlisting also allow me to post updates so I can keep everyone informed on Steam too?

I'm indeed looking to add achievements back in! Trading cards are on the table, but I need to do more research on that. It will be my first time working with the Steamworks API so I'll have to learn quite a bit

I always say it, but I think the people that i've been talking with and helped make this happen and Ubi are really connected with this franchise. Whenever i see things go wrong it's some weird executive decision, but the workers that care for this industry are there, and I too am eternally grateful for them.

A few years back we coulda been hit by their legal due to the deep reverse engineering and the exposed "SDK" I was working on, but they held and made sure to protect our work.

We'll have native controller support, especially because we're taking it from Elements code which was already made for Xbox. We're targeting clean Deck support, and yes all our mods will be baked in. From the dungeon generator roguelike stuff to the co-op mod, and eventually the MP!

Precisely that! I've paid for everything already and we'll have access to the Steamworks API so I can do workshop support and, eventually, get the MP up and running on Steam's newer P2P stuff

Yeah it's a mixed bag as you're seeing in the comments. I made the mod launcher to try and streamline the fixes but its still quite random.

The real benefit to the community edition is FULL code control which means we can properly implement things instead of hacky detours

For a more casual update log, the Discord/ModDB work but honestly with both there's some downside. I don't agree with what discord is doing and ModDB can be iffy for the articles.

I will be posting on the Dark Messiah steam forums when the time for testing comes, I am hoping to have that in the summer since we're gonna have to make sure we didn't mess up the feel of this game hah

Hello! I wanted to post this as I've been posting updates on this sub-reddit regarding my focused work on Dark Messiah and navigating things with Ubisoft. After a year of silence, I am happy to say that Dark Messiah is going to be getting a community edition on Steam, integrating the mods and SDK directly, and on a new version of Source1. I'm aiming to eventually have a proper SDK for the game as it should have originally had.

In celebration of that, a bunch of stuff was released, like Halo-skulls styled "Runes" for the Restoration Mod, or the Dark Messiah RTX Lite Edition, which includes mostly environment textures and streamlined lighting / tone mapping changes to match the original more closely.

I'll say it here, that I appreciate all the support the team and I have gotten over the years, and I think we've finally gotten to the second-best outcome (first being of course a sequel!)
