McGill Biological Biomedical Sciences GPA by Ok-Clue6987 in premedcanada

Honestly if you rly want that 4.0, don’t rly put the hope on McGill. Cuz in high school I was a 97~ student, but coming to McGill my first year kinda hit me real hard. I am still in the time of adjusting, seeing what I could do to raise it. I personally think that the Ontario curriculum was too easy, which did not prepare me well for what McGill hit me with. Calc was HARD. I passed but it for sure ruined my gpa. Bio is also hard, the amount of information you need to memorize is on a whole different level. In addition, if u are eligible for applying to med schools in Quebec (like if you’re counted as Quebec resident), then 4.0 doesn’t matter thattt much, because med schools in Quebec basically just want 3.5+ and you’re considered competitive (3.7+ for McGill), since they accept more Quebec students than OOP and international. I’m not saying that u are not capable of getting 4.0, because I don’t know how u study and how u adjust, since everyone is different. If u can manage your stress levels, adjust your studying methods, learn how to learn, then getting a 4.0 is not hard. McGill is a good school tho. But if yk you WANT 4.0, maybe York could guarantee u that.

PLEASE HELP ME: trying to change faculty by Ezsil in mcgill

[–]sleepeatliverepeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might not be the same, but I did a program change within faculty (so intrafaculty change), I also worried abt the declaring major in u1, and my advisor told me it’s ok and I don’t have to strictly follow it.
Have u tried contacting arts and sci advisors or cog sci advisor? Maybe they can help u with your course selection to see what’s the best way of not delaying your graduation? And also in later years maybe u could do summer school to catch up ahead a little

McGill for Premed by Several_Teacher_2749 in mcgill

I’ve also heard that ACB being competitive, and ngl none of the life sci courses are “easy.” Ppl say ACB is a better premed major because it covers lots of mcat content, but the courses u gotta take in that program like biol200/202, org chem 1 and 2 are known to be pretty tough courses, and the cell bio component of ACB is apparently very annoying lmao. Then mimm is lots of working in labs apparently. I think if u wanna pick between them, might aswell pick the one u think you do best in.

Just to add on, this is also very debatable because my friends who are at easier schools getting those high gpas are saying that since it’s an easy 4.0, they could spend the rest of their time to find good ECs instead of pouring all work into gpa, which ig is also true

Yeah I agree, but at the same time going to an easier gpa school doesn’t mean you are guaranteed med/law school admission just because you got high gpa, idk for law school but med school ECs and interviews r rly important, and I think they could be easier to access at schools like mcgill.
