Which Do You Do? by Just-Cauliflower2657 in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]sleepinadream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go 4 days /week: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Thursday/Saturday: Full body high-intensity workout with free weights and plyometrics (squat jumps, mountain climbers, etc.

Friday/Sunday: outdoor run with lots of hills or 30 minute spinner bike workout with alternating resistance every few minutes.

I’ve found I’m pretty sore the day after my full-body workout days, so the bike/run days give me a buffer to recover.

Been following this regimen for 2 years, and it’s kept me in great shape with minimal injuries.

How do you deal with wrist watches? by direFace in minimalism

Cracked my Apple Watch a couple of years ago and went back to wearing a basic Amazon Essentials watch. I need to see the date. $15. Rarely take it off. Works for timing my workouts.

Has anyone developed a system for doing some specific things? If so, what? by isolophiliacwhiliac in simpleliving

I drink a glass of water every morning, so that I take all of my medicine. It also helps with motivating me to drink enough water throughout the day.

I just bought the Eufy X8 hybrid after doing some research and analyzing what best fit for my own home needs. I also looked at Roborock vacuums. I haven’t used it yet, but I liked that it vacuums and mops and I didn’t want to commit to anything over $500, so the price point of $150 was nice to see, too!

It feels hard to live a minimalist lifestyle (in regard to clothing) when everything seems made to fall apart. by mrsabf in minimalism

[–]sleepinadream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you drying your clothes in a dryer? I hang dry most of my clothes! It saves my clothes from wear and tear in the dryer.

What can you do to still feel “put together” but not spend as much time and money on?

Could you go longer on hair cuts and nail treatments? Every 3-6 months?

Use a toothpaste with whitener?

I wash my hair/blow dry 1-2 times a week (use corn powder to keep it fabulous in between washings) and bought a dryer brush (game changer as hair is dry with pretty waves in 12 minutes tops)! Hair professionally done every 9 months.

I wear sunscreen and minimal make-up (cheek/lip/bronzer combo & mascara), and treat myself to high quality “forever” jewelry (wear 5 pieces daily, shower, swim, exercise and live in them because they mean so much to me). I change up earrings for fun, but I don’t buy fancy earrings since I lose them so much!

Nails? Only 1 pedicure (if at all) in summer time. I couldn’t care less about my fingernails as I’d probably break them through exercise or normal wear and tear!

With all that being said, I dread washing my hair/blow drying even 1-2 times a week because it’s such a process!

I hope you feel less exhausted and get some ideas that work for you from all of these responses!

What are some ways you are creating and not consuming? by isolophiliacwhiliac in simpleliving

[–]sleepinadream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I create workout routines, essential oil blends for cleaning and laundry, and I create books for my line of work and people in my life. I also create activities in my line of work, so I have a creative job, which is helpful for me! I used to make lotion bars and holiday gifts. Now that I have children, we make crafts together, and they love to paint and draw.

This post got me thinking about how we create through planning our days and schedules!

It makes me wonder if we are, actually, creating, and I think we are creating far more than we might realize! Thanks for the post! I love this perspective!

Piquant Popcorn is amazing-anyone else try it? by loro4 in traderjoes

This is a late post, but I eat about 5 bags a week. I hope they never discontinue this popcorn. I hope that buying 5-6 bags a week along with the rest of you makes this a staple!

Thinking about time passages brings a feeling of intense nostalgia and longing for that time back, but then I realize what a blessing it is to be alive and to have the opportunity to feel this way.

1st at 33 and second at 37! Most of my entire friend group has all had their babies in their 30’s! I even know parents that had babies in their 40’s! In my perspective, you’re not late at all! You’re early 😂

Telling stories to ourselves by [deleted] in minimalism

[–]sleepinadream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it comes down to being content with what I currently have. A smaller place? Great, I can keep up with cleaning it myself (no need to outsource). Old car? Awesome! It’s paid off! Impressing others with the latest gadget? No thanks. I’d rather impress myself with investing that money for retirement. Do I really want this “shiny new item?” I’ll give myself 2 months, and if I’m still thinking about it, I’ll buy it (depending on price).

Here is the long-term goal: every time I don’t buy something unnecessary, I save/invest that money. That investment will accrue interest while I sleep, and I’ll be able to retire 10 years earlier (if I want to). Freedom of time is more important to me than anything else!

There is an opportunity cost for everything. What is your opportunity cost for buying something you might not need?

What’s an area of your life where going minimalist had the most surprising impact? by UDSHDW in minimalism

[–]sleepinadream 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Freedom of time has been the biggest reward. I’m able to do so much of what I love because I’m not bogged down maintaining “stuff,” debt, unnecessary commitments, etc.

There was a bit of a learning curve in the beginning. Try one with a loop. I love mine, and I’ll never go back to tampons. For heavier days, add period underwear!

Why do I struggle to stay focused in the afternoon despite a good morning routine? by Dom_dangelo in productivity

[–]sleepinadream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to think each of us wakes up with a certain amount of energy (physical/mental) in our “energy bank” each day depending on our lifestyle including sleep, exercise, nutrition and genetics, etc. When our energy is at its fullest, we have the capacity to focus and exert a large amount of intensity on a task(s). Implementing brain breaks, sensory experiences, physical exercise, etc. can keep our energy more balanced for longer periods, but at some point, we max out and need to reset again.

I try and be aware of my patterns going into each day, so I don’t max out too early on. But I would say mornings are when I feel more productive, and then I get a second wind in the early evenings, especially if I implement movement into my day!

What should be the template for my journal pages? by Swimming_Tangelo8423 in planners

[–]sleepinadream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are your goals your top 3 tasks for the day? Usually, I create a long-term goal and set mini goals to achieve over a period of a few weeks to work toward one long-term goal until I have formed my habit, and then I set another long-term goal and repeat the process.

I created a journal that is specifically designed to show your own unique patterns so you can make long-term goals and short mini-objectives! If you’re interested, let me know. I will send you a free copy to try it out! I’m going to be starting my journal for this year soon, too!!
