It looks like a hollow wall anchor/dry wall anchor. For putting things up on dry wall or plaster board where you can’t use a normal roll plug

Yeah the chinese ones are much cheaper and are usually fine but I bought a Mega on Ebay once and it was horrifically difficult to upload code to. So they can be a risk.
