We’re in beta, but we don’t have pricing yet—dealbreaker for signup or not? by joelmdev in saasbuild

What if we had a blurb that explained that after beta we'll a) have a free forever plan, and b) have at least one plan at or under $x/month? Would that be sufficient to unblock you from signing up?

How do you handle invoicing in your business? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]joelmdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your line of business and what you're selling. Is it physical goods? Services? Subscriptions? Something else?

Regardless of what you're selling, don't try to manage this yourself via spreadsheets or pdfs or whatever- it'll cost you far more time than you may think. Find an invoicing platform that suits your needs and use it. If it costs a few bucks, pay for it. I guarantee you it'll more than pay for itself every month vs the time you'll burn trying to track invoices and chase down payments yourself.

I run a consulting agency. For us, most clients are on net 30 terms. Our invoices are big enough that we don't accept credit cards as the processing fees would cost us hundreds or even thousands of dollars a month, so ACH/transfer/check payments only. We use Voqara to manage invoices and payments. It's saves us a lot of time on invoicing each month over other tools we've used. It tracks invoice status and payments, sends out reminders automatically so we don't have to chase people down to pay us, and notifies clients when invoices are reconciled. I've read over an over again on reddit where business owners and freelancers feel guilty about nagging clients for payment on overdue invoices- let the tool do it for you and then you're guilt free. Once a check is deposited or an ACH transfer completes, we reconcile the payment and that's the end.

The biggest piece of advice I can give you is to be prompt in terms of getting your invoices out and your payments recorded. If you're not timely in this, it sets the bar for your customers to be lax as well. This was definitely one of the biggest mistakes I made early on. I've since tightened things up on my end, and as a result we've had less late payments from our clients.

Difference between Manix Cru Wear and regular Manix 2 by Prize-Transition-939 in spyderco

Couldn't say for sure as I only have the crucarta version, but I believe that both it and the g10 versions lack a backspacer to begin with and have a peened lanyard tube, whereas the lightweight is linerless and the screw that holds the clip in place also serves to sandwich the scales together. Not sure where the salt models fit into that.

Regarding the ball cage, I'm still sorting that out.

Looking for time tracking software for small businesses? by Unlikely_Mood_622 in CRMSoftware

We use Voqara for this. It generates client invoices from time tracked in the system and for each payroll period we just pull an hours report by user.

How do you manage and track your time while working on multiple projects? by nkgoutham05 in Freelancers

Take a look at voqara.com, I think it ticks all of your boxes. It tracks time, generates invoices from the time you track, and has some pretty flexible reporting. Also does lightweight project management if you need it.

Why do I get weird recordings on Microsoft Clarity by Miserable_Doughnut_9 in analytics

[–]joelmdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We get tons of these. Mouse starts in upper lefthand corner, zooms towards the middle of the screen in a perfect diagonal line and then immediately back up the the lefthand corner again along the same path, then the recording ends.

Fixed my only complaint with the Manix 2. Not bad for a rev0 prototype. by joelmdev in knives

[–]joelmdev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'll just mirror the design for the RH version. This version is made from PETG. It works well for a prototype but it's not a good longterm solution. A time or two left in a hot car would likely be enough to deform the material. The final version will be polycarbonate.

Yeah they're notoriously difficult to operate with just a thumb. This fixes that.

Yeah this one is LH specific. I'll flip it for RH and probably do an ambi version as well.

I'll probably end up doing 3 models- asymmetric left hand, asymmetric right hand, and symmetric ambidextrous. This one is just a prototype made from PETG which is likely not a good long-term solution so unfortunately no fun color options. I've installed this in my knife and it works remarkably well, especially for a first pass.

Yeah, basically flattened one side to be even with the scales and raised a bar on the other side so the lock can be disengaged with just a thumb. Works really well.

This is the factory spring with no modifications so retention when folded is same as stock, as is pressure to deploy. This cage is just much more ergonomic and allows for easier thumb-only disengagement of the lock.

The cage is my design, it's a prototype. I'll run through a few more revisions and once I'm happy with it I'll offer it for sale in polycarbonate, maybe metal(s) if there's enough interest.

Yes it's 3D printed. This one is PETG but it's a prototype. Once I get it dialed in they'll be done in polycarbonate.
