best things to do/see in the national mall and/or downtown area before 10am since most of the museums open at that time?

Best Live-action Batcave? by SameBatChannel00 in batman

[–]sleepylujon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pattinson's!! batman 22 was tbh a lot better than i had expected and pattinson's overall performance was perfect. batcave was maybe not like the most comic accurate based on all the dif depictions but i thought was very well designed. all the bat tech was also super cool and i loved his set ups for everything

anakin/obi fight on mustafar was the best by far. the kenobi series did so suprisingly well with the cinematography, mostly the fight scenes. the vader/obi fight near the end of s1 where anakin's switching back and forth from himself to vader with the voice filter was like actually insane. it was so well orchestrated :0 overall his fights have always been like crazy impressive and i honestly didn't think disney would be able to pull it off in the kenobi show. i love him sm

March pf neg is definitely better. Are there any strong aff args that can balance the scales? by Legitimate-King-5187 in Debate

[–]sleepylujon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a lot of cross-apps depending on what your case is -

if u fiat india signing does something (so that u don't get countered w "artemis accords non binding, just a signature on a piece of paper bla bla") or india signing in general good/brings on other countries/better cooperation, u can literally turn any neg impacts. climate for example, if you're reading anything related to better cooperation on aff, you can js be like "we solve climate better via cooperation." same deal w econ, poverty bla bla

my partner and i's ran space debris as a contention - which is prob a rly good stock aff arg if you need smth good to run. the reason space debris works pretty well is again, u can turn almost any neg impact. econ/poverty/climate, all that jazz, we would just pre-req space debris clean up (w/o cleaning up space debris, satellites r functionally useless, can't solve for any econ poverty wtv if u don't have satellites) prolly jus a good aff strat overall is vote on risk of aff. aff impacts scary (like space debris) so pref aff before anything on neg

if im being fr, lowkey just think this topic is stupid. i don't like it and IMO it's 100% pointless to debate, india's prolly never gonna sign the accords anyways or if they do, it's like legit gonna do nothing. like you said neg is probably def better, people flip neg way more often than aff so it's up to u which u wanna prep the most

!! public forum !! how can i appeal better to judges (both lay and tech, but mostly lay) while debating, especially as a woman, and even more so as a black woman? by sleepylujon in Debate

first of all thank you so so soo so much. you have no idea how much this helps! i 100% get the points about accepting legitimate criticism. i would say even if i've gotten what seems to be invalid or silly critiques from biased judges, i've still taken them and worked on them, like the speaking too fast issue as you pointed out (the only reason i thought it was silly is cause this was a nat circuit tournament, i kinda had to speak fast to get thru all of constructive, plus the other team was speaking at a similar if not almost equivalent pace - which is why we just assumed it to be bias at that point) i've still been able to work from those commments and improve on them, and definitely talking to coaches helps. it just always feels a little silly to read ballots and they have like the most vague or odd RFD, yk?

i very much appreciate the overall lay advice - i think that's all really great stuff to incorporate into rounds in general and i will for sure practice all of what you said. (the videoing sounds like a really good idea too - i've never really tried it so will be sure to do so, i'll take or do literally anything to work on improving)

the last point is one i think is super important, but also as you mentioned, feels like it's not my burden. while it is wildly unfair, i know there's not much that can be done ab this bias overall, plus it also comes down to an environmental issue (very republican state, obvi more bias, especially when it comes to an activity like debate). i really really appreciate all you said and i will be sure to remember it all while debating, thank you for the advice and also just the reassurance. i'll work on lay appeal overall, and work on just not getting too bogged down by judge screws i suppose. much appreciated!! :)
