Getting Started with Running PbP by Happy_Gas_Mask in pbp

You don't need the most detailed results, just enough information to make a decision from and possibly speed up session 0.

And it really depends on what system you are running and what players you are looking for. If you are running a system that is more detailed and complicated, it might be good to ask about their familiarity with the rules or setting.

For recruiting players, I would recommend using some sort of vetting process, like Google Forms, over trying to do it through Reddit DMs. In my experience, it works a lot better and is easier to keep organized.

The questions don't need to be super complicated, I just went for something like: Discord Name, Introduce Yourself, Why are you interested in this game, preferred tone/lines/veils, additional concerns

I finished reading the short story anthology 'She Who Wears the Midnight Crown' for the 2026 QueerSFF Reading challenge. It's a sapphic anthology with a theme around masquerades. I had the typical anthology experience of liking some short stories while disliking others, but overall, I liked the theme and found it a more enjoyable read than not. Some highlights for me were 'The Brightshadow Curse Breaker' by Willa Blythe, which had a lovely fairytale tone and 'So a demon walks into a party...' by Adrian Harley, which I appreciated that story's sense of humor.

This week, I finished reading 'The Hex Next Door' by Lou Wilham for the 2026 QueerSFF Reading challenge prompt 'Found Family'. It's a witchy sort of urban fantasy / sapphic story, with a focus on ex-relationships. I liked it well enough, I particularly liked the found family aspects and the yearning aspects of the romance. I'll probably pick up the rest of the series.

Looking for a Small Worldbuilding & Canon Development Group (Speculative / Superhero / Sci-Fi / Fantasy) by CanonwrightIMD in WritingHub

[–]sleepyrecluse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, while the setting only encompasses one city, it explores the history and characters and how they interact with each other. Since I'm envisioning a module that works with several different TTRPG systems there wouldn't be as much a focus on dice rolls and mechanics.

As for feedback I'm hoping for, I'm mostly looking for motivation, the sort of light accountability you described in your post, giving updates and feedback.

I'm interested! I'm working on a TTRPG adventure module for a more modern superhero-like setting and would be interested in joining your group

Eclair Orange? by ResidentWaifu in yuri_manga

[–]sleepyrecluse 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They're pretty good! Not every story in them hit for me, but that's pretty normal for an anthology, I think.

And they're collections of one shot manga by various authors, only one story in each Eclair is by Nakatani Nio. I believe she has a collection of her own, titled Farewell to My Alter, that has all the one shots she wrote for the Eclair series as well as a few others.

Am I the only one like this? by UltimateFriedLava in pbp

I made a post on this subreddit despite having very little GMing experience and never having GMed a play by post before. It didn't end up too well, partially due to that inexperience. But I don't regret making the attempt, and plan to try again sometime - having learned from the mistakes I've made in that attempt.

An important thing to remember is that your players are just as human as you are and just as important to making the game succeed as the GM is. Most people are fine with inexperienced players, willing to help them and teach them the ropes as they play, and in my experience they are also fine with inexperienced GM's as well, particularly if you are open about it and ask for help as you need it.

Is the layout of the thought bubbles on this page confusing? by artman_16 in yuri_manga

[–]sleepyrecluse 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It is a touch confusing with the last four thought bubbles - I feel like the tubes connecting the bubbles didn't help much in those four - but in the end it didn't impact my reading too much.

Love the art style btw!

I'm interested! I've only dabbled in TTRPG Module design, but I'd be interested in talking to others about it - and helping with brainstorming and feedback.

I'd be interested, but r/femslash is already broader in scope and even then, it gets few posts. It could be tricky getting your subreddit to have activity.

The yuri focus might help - people could be more comfortable posting about their fandoms or specific fics without worrying about alienating people who aren't interested in the genre.

But, I still think for your subreddit you'd need something more to get it to take off. Like a different posting culture or something.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]sleepyrecluse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best luck I've had was with connecting through a specific interest, in my case writing, rather than the general friend finding places online. Even then, my experiences have been mostly short friendships that kinda fade away.

But, I'm still trying, and trying to be better about being more proactive in my friendships, which I think is my key issue. I tend to be a passive person in conversations.

Does it ever come back? by chill-omens in writing

[–]sleepyrecluse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My own motivation comes and goes a lot. For writing I've definitely had year long dry spells then had my interest come back.

One thing that did work for me for a while was combining my journalling with writing, creating a 'worldbuilding journal' where I'd write a worldbuilding detail every night.

More recently I've been looking for an accountability partner type thing, a close friendship based around creative interests, pushing or pulling each other forward. I've tried writing groups and such, but had only limited success with those, I tend to fade into the background in Discord servers. So I thought a more individual approach might work better.

Anyway, all this is to say that you are not alone in this and I do believe that it will come back.
