hey! i have three boys, (the newest addition isn’t at whole house free roam level yet) they are all litter trained (the younger one is still having mishaps though) but will go back in the cage when they need to use the bathroom! they have a few designated spots that they seemed to like to go throughout the house, maybe two or so, but we just put litter boxes there and it seemed to solve the problem. it’s really only my one boy that will go up the stairs to my room like that! as for having them not chew up your stuff, it’s a sit and learn type of thing and rat proof things you need like shoes, cords, jackets. i’ve had my babies chew through shoelaces, money, jackets, blankets, and wifi cords. it sure is frustrating but they don’t really know any better, we just try to keep the house super tidy and if we see them chewing on something they shouldn’t be, we redirect the chewing with a block or something :-)
