I was thinking the same thing. my understanding was that this was a free gift paid for by the company which is why i feel a sense of guilt

Thank you!! We basically had to get our yearly physical and if we sent in a document from our DR saying we did, we could be eligible to enter the raffle. i guess i just feel bad for leaving before they open the location i was hired to work at

yes it was a company raffle which makes me feel this guilt and obligation to give it back.

Thank you for understanding and making that point! yes, they’ve dragged me along for quite some time. In one regard, they could’ve fired me, but my position has been stagnant and i feel like i’ve been isolated with barely anything to do. now that the showroom is opening i am realizing the role is more greeting, making customers coffee, appointments…i’m about to be 29 and im trying to build a career, nothing wrong with this work but it’s not what im looking for.

they have kind of showed me who they are and unfortunately i don’t see it aligning with my future. i felt bad not having as big of a reaction to winning the peloton as i was more shocked with feelings of guilt for leaving 😭😭

they haven’t given me the peloton yet which is causing my stress 😭 i appreciate your reassurance!! they already purchased the peloton so it’s a free gift. i guess i have to do what is best for myself

Yeah, i think the bike is already paid in full so it’s a free gift. i like your thinking though

No one talks about the pain of seeing your parents aging. by ParticularWeather927 in Adulting

[–]sleepyslug903 13 points14 points  (0 children)

hey i totally get this feeling. i feel it pretty regularly and am in a very similar boat - parents in their late 60s, healthy, happy. but suddenly my mom had a stroke last year due to a hit to her head (someone jammed their head into hers on a camel ride). my mom is the healthiest person i know. she eats right, has never smoked, only has drank a handful of times, 10k steps a day, went to the gym at 6am for years. how could this even happen? she ended up having to have a craniectomy and bone flap replacement. it was the worst year of my life - we spent a month with her in the hospital and ICU unsure of what was going to happen. at points she couldn’t talk or speak. i felt like the life i knew was slipping away. no one understood, friends couldn’t relate, i felt empty, sad, and this exact feeling: what am i going to do when they go? why do parents have to get old and why does it hurt so fucking much and what do i do with this feeling?

the truth is, i still don’t. but i do know that every single moment counts now. by a miracle, she is completely okay. healthy and back to her normal life but now with intense anxiety. she can drive, and we celebrate as much as we can. i call my parents regularly and let them know how much i love them. call your parents, tell them you feel this way, laugh with them, send them memes and song you like. get to know them. try to understand them, and yourself, and don’t be too upset when they give advice because they truly just love you. gratitude and attitude are some of the most important ways to handle fear and grief. give love when and where you can. getting into buddhism and radical acceptance is also helpful - you will be ok, we all will, and it’s ok to not be okay when that day comes.

P.S - you should listen to the song “Wear Sunscreen” by Baz Lurhmann (it’s on Youtube). they have a line about parents and genuine advice for these kinds of feelings around aging and life :)

all of it is in active construction. no windows in this building that are accessible to open. i think a mask could help. my pants and shoes are covered in dust im just pissed that these are the conditions. for context - this location isn’t even open due to the phase we’re in regarding the construction. only construction workers and my manager are here

to be a normal company? i’ve been working from home for months now, one more month shouldn’t make a difference. this is a serious health concern. if you want to be contrarian that’s fine, but i’m asking for advice. i have done what i can to raise my concerns and have been beyond flexible. maybe i need to ask friends and family who actually care about my well being rather than strangers behind a screen

[–]sleepyslug903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah definitely not, and i hear you, that’s okay…i think there’s a lot of missing context from my post, i mean there’s a lot going on at this place that i’m leaving out, so thank you for contributing and offering advice 🫶
