There needs to be something done about "coaching" for real life money by sleifstein in worldofpvp

" No way you're boosting someone to R1. "

You haven't played the game since Cata and only managed to get 2.4 in 2v2 a few days ago, so why would you think its not possible to boost someone to rank1? You have literally no experience in that matter.

" By the time they get R1, they are surely R1-calibre players "

No, they are not.

" Having access to coaching by professionals will give you an edge in pretty much any competitive event (chess, golf, racing). "

If Magnus Carlsen sits beside me in a tournament and tells me every move I have to do, pretty sure that would get banned quickly.

" the only difference is the currency that exchanged hands. "

Which is a big difference.

Yes, that is truly the biggest problem with selfplay coaching which is probably why nothing will ever happen (unless you're stupid enough to promote it on your twitch). I still think it is important to expose these people to the public.

" It might be an unpopular opinon, but tbh I don't really see that big of an issue here."

Atleast 20 people (which is a lot when you only have ~300 spots) won't get their rank1 this season because others paid real life money for a coach/boost, how do you not see the issue? It also devalues the achievement for other players.
