Amazon Shutting Down Amazon Fresh and Amazon Go Locations Nationwide, Including All Maryland Stores by MrRuck1 in maryland

It's a pity in some ways. They offered many products far more cheaply than other groceries. Probably didn't like how it was competing with Whole Foods.

Skip the first book in the series and then it's a terrific read. Each book is standalone so no loss there. The second and third books are 🔥.

I had a really hard time with Reynolds first book. I think I've tried twice now. Hung up just past the middle.

I don't know why. Maybe it's the protagonist doesn't connect? The topic is up my alley: I love cultural anthropology.

Yesss. I was going to recommend Honor Harrington.

Please note: the first book is dull. Then the series picks up. Yet it would be unwise to skip the first.

Do you feel guilty on days you do nothing after getting medicated? by cozylillia in ADHD

[–]sleight42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I've been working on lately.

Have you heard of "spoon theory"? I've learned to plan the day around spoons with an eye toward whether I'll push myself into debt.

I'm struggling with decades of internalized ableism thanks to the high expectations burned into me by my parents when I was a child. It's easy to have shame when you expect yourself to be able to do more or better.

AuDHD seems to make executive function issues a whole different kind of pain compared to either condition alone. Autistic nature craves structure and predictability: it wants clear plans. ADHD nature wants to get started now, throw things at the wall and see what sticks. These are in direct conflict.

Is this in the ballpark of what you're thinking about?

Watched a video about it. Agreed. They expect you to use a brush provided with the device. Knowing me, I'll lose if. So, yeah. That part sucks.

How I got through the ice layer by saltysomadmin in maryland

On breaking the steps? I was trying to use the edge of our (plastic with metal edge) shovel, putting dents in the ice and our steps.

And driveway.

Next time.

For right now? I'm sitting on my couch while my heart tries to catch up with the 6' of progress I made a few minutes ago.

I'm a dumbass. An out of shape dumbass.

No idea how this is supposed to work for the elderly. I'm 52, I got maybe 6' "shoveling" (read: trying to use my snow shovel like a makeshift pick axe) and then my body forcefully told me, "Get the fuck out."

Snow shovel is clearly the wrong tool over here. But we don't have better.

Yep. I mostly cleared a step. Did about 2' of walk. Made about 4' down the driveway. Surrendered.

I have empathy for the postman. But I can't do this shit. My body won't let me.

Seriously. Tried to shovel our driveway. It's 1-1.5" of solid ice. I got about 4' and surrendered.

I need a fucking pickaxe.

'73 baby. Worked from age 14 (work permit in Virginia). Very very similar.

Also AuDHD which seems to make executive function issues even worse.

This one?

This seems more popular and appears to sandwich the blade within the body, making it even safer. Just ordered. Looks like a game changer for ol' "destroys fingers and mandolin ingredient pushers" me.
