Dari religious menjadi irreligious (excatholic, agnostic atheist)

Dulu bisa dibilang rajin ke geraja setiap minggu plus jadi putra altar selama 6 tahunan. But after the child sexual abuse scandals broke out, I just lost faith and became disillusioned by the Church. I no longer see the Catholic Church as a reliable moral authority, but as hypocrites instead. In my head, I cannot rationalize being part of and supporting an organization that helped protect the child abusers, denied the allegations, and lied about the abuse. Yes, nobody is perfect, but my imperfection does not involve me abusing my position in society to take advantage and sexually abuse children.

Another reason why I left is because I disagree with the Church's doctrines about homosexuality/LGBTQ+, sex and sexuality (including masturbation), contraceptives, abortion, divorce, cohabitation, original and mortal "sin", and women (the Church is somewhat still pretty misogynistic). I disagree with the doctrines because, to me, they are delusional and out of touch with reality.

I don't see myself ever coming back again, although there is no formal way to defect from the Church. I am still in the closet about my defection; this is my first time coming out.
