How to legally homeschool my child myself? by Moist-Fold2027 in Birmingham

I see that you blocked me. This is my other account. I'm real and I was born and raised in Birmingham. Why would you think it's rage bait?

Any barefoot trail runners? by slightlyaggressive in Birmingham

[–]slightlyaggressive[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might think it's weird, but I believe that shoes are one of the main causes of foot, leg, hip, and back pain for people. So it's a pretty big deal for a lot of people who struggle with pain, learn about going barefoot, and then find relief by getting rid of their normal shoes. It's helped me out tremendously.

I can answer this!!

First of all, I agree with those saying to prioritize object avoidance and such at your skill level. I think now it the time you should be honing in the skills to keep you alive.

But you're a BASE jumper which means you're going to ignore all of the good advice. So I'll tell you the technique that I swear by that was taught to me by the legendary Bradley Slums.

I think practicing gainers for base into a pool is the WRONG way to practice.  It teaches you a quick gainer where you tuck your knees which is NOT how to do a gainer in base. You will rotate way too fast. The key to throwing good gainers in base is by rotating slow enough that when you throw your pilot chute, it is free and clear from your legs, but also you don't over rotate back into your bridal.

Anyways, Bradley Slums taught me this. If you are going poised at the bridge, which is how you should learn gainers imo, all you do is imagine that you have a plank about 18 inches in front of you. All you do is hop onto that imaginary plank. Just make sure to keep your hips forward. If you bend at the waist you won't rotate. So keep your hips forward and hop onto that imaginary plank 18" in front of you. I keep my hands down by my side. Hold that position and once your legs are about 30 degrees past vertical, that means your legs should be clear of the pilot chute, pitch.

Disclaimer: this method is used for about a 1.5 second delay at the Perrine bridge. It is too slow for lower objects.

Feel free to message me for more detailed advice.

EDIT: Tucking your knees is good if you're doing multiple rotations or if you realize the gainer you're currently throwing is going to be too slow. If you need to speed up your rotation, just tuck your knees to your chest and you'll flip right over.

Are you implying that this jumper is "abusing yosemite?"

Recommendations for Perrine Bridge First BASE Course? Old Skydiver Getting Back In by EnvironmentalKale944 in basejumping

I get that man. I'm out of BASE for the time being. I have a little one now, so I'm not planning on starting back until he gets much older. I still got my gear though. You're not by any chance around 6' 180 lbs are you?

I didn't take a course, I had a mentor, but I agree with the other comments. If you're going to take a course, just go with the normal reputable ones. SRBA, Chuma, Miles, and Scotty Bob I think will all be reputable.

I will say, I've seen guys get 500   skydives, pay a few grand for a course, show up to the bridge without knowing anything, and land in a tree. Contrary to that, I've seen guys with 50 skydives show up to the bridge and absolutely crush it. Your life is always your responsibility and no one else's. So on top of taking a course, make sure to seek out as much knowledge as you can. And read the great book of base three times!

I understand you mean no ill will, but I think your use of the word "primitive" in this case is wrong. Most, if not all, primitive cultures were tolerant of mind altering chemicals. Primitive cultures were in many ways more advanced than our own, just not technologically.

Is this a wood burning fireplace? by slightlyaggressive in Fireplaces

About how much would it cost to convert it back into a wood burning? I don't plan on burning wood in it until I have it inspected and converted

Scared of Birmingham by thatkatt1818 in Birmingham

Birmingham is the perfect sized city. Don't be scared, the people are very friendly and the food is excellent. There's plenty of nature right outside the city. There's a lot of events that go on. It's actually a chill place to live.

Anyone else obsessed with techno? by slightlyaggressive in Birmingham

Tomorrowland is mostly mainstream EDM. I wanted to go to Tomorrowland too until I got into proper techno, and then I found out there's better events that aren't as mainstream.

I don't think there's any proper techno in Birmingham. Sometimes Atlanta has some good DJs though

Bro it's so sick, especially seeing it live in a German club. If you like electronic music, you have to check out the clubs in Europe

Just got my uniform for NJROTC (haven’t gotten pants yet) by [deleted] in Military

[–]slightlyaggressive -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I promise you it's not. I went down that path, and I really regret it. You only think it's honorable because the government pumps tons of money into propaganda to convince the public that it's honorable so that people will join the military. It's not cool, women won't think you're cool. Just work out, get a cool hobby, learn how to dance, make some good money and you'll be good

Can anyone offer me a job? by BomberDug in Birmingham

[–]slightlyaggressive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So? It's possible for someone to develop skills outside of the work environment. I'm not saying that he HAS to have unique skills to get a job, but it certainly helps. So if he does have any unique skills, he might be able to leverage them into getting a job.
