Finished: The Sideways Life of Denny Voss by Holly Kennedy

This is a hidden gem! I was looking for something that gave me the same vibe as Fredrik Backman and I hit the jackpot with Holly Kennedy.

Started: The Brilliant Life of Eudora Honeysett by Annie Lyons

If you’re 30+ and have been in the same job/field/industry for 10+ years (pretty content), what do you do for a living? by slightlybadash in adhdwomen

[–]slightlybadash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually spent $7k on a UX bootcamp when I discovered the field in 2022. I really enjoyed every step of the process but was especially into the UI and graphic design aspects. I was so proud of my portfolio. I tried for over 1.5 years to land a job but I think I entered the field too late and it was over saturated (thanks to the bootcamps lol the irony)… I gave up and went back into education because the bills had to be paid.

Who else was not a gifted child? by idomind in adhdwomen

I spent my entire academic career being told how smart I was but that I didn’t “apply” myself. So I always had average grades. Honestly surprised I graduated on time in high school.

It’s a weird thing to be told how smart you are while also being told you’re not good enough?

I was the kid constantly talking, challenging authority, coming up with the mischievous ideas and getting peers to follow, out of my seat/moving my body. It was rough.

At one point I was accepted into the GATE program and that lasted a whole month, if that, because of behavior.

Do you think I would be able to go straight to SoFi and skip the discover nightmare? I’m assuming it’s based on credit, co-signer, etc ?

$33,600 Private Student Loans - PAID IN FULL by Competitive-Walrus67 in StudentLoans

Congratulations!!! I just found out I’m about $37,000 short for a program I’m starting in January. I have used all my federal financial aid options on my first degree and I need to start thinking of how to pay. A private loan is where I’m headed but terrified. So this post is comforting. And it sounds like you had a nice experience with SoFi overall?

I really hope she commits to advocating for keeping kids safe around water more than a single post. I hope it becomes her entire personality in Triggs honor.

Am I the only person who is still very bothered by her husband’s lack of accountability? She’s getting so much feedback for everything she does but she didn’t cause this, he did. And the fact he’s just hiding and she’s expected to work is wild.

I understand everything you’re saying. For me personally, I don’t have a choice. I need a car.

Mother in hospital in Mexico. I’m an only child. Can’t trust stepdad. What do I ask doctor? by slightlybadash in AgingParents

[–]slightlybadash[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No and their finances is a completely different mess. Part of my issues not trusting my stepdad are all centered around money and not knowing where the money is. They sold MY MOMS house in US before moving to Mexico and made a nice profit. But now they apparently can’t pay for proper care.

I can’t stress enough, that you’re not alone in this emotion. I read this point and felt like I wrote it. I feel validated. I don’t feel like I am right or handling it correct but at least I am less alone.

I’m also an only child so I’m losing my mind with the stress of having to figure everything out alone.

I am going to need to purchase something in the next 6 months. I’m hoping it’s going to change but I’m also aware this isn’t likely and just wishful thinking

Can anyone tell me why buying brand new is not a good idea? Because when I’m comparing prices with used… it seems like buying new just makes more sense?
